Sports programming is shooting itself in the foot IMHO. Or killing the golden goose, pick your metaphor.
BTN? who cares?

Yours is a healthy attitude. I like it!

I didn't think I would have reception either but when they did the sight line test to the satellite, I was fine. May be worth it to have them come out and check your quality of reception.

DirecTV will have extra dedicated channels (sort of like a free 'B10' Gameplan for "choice" or better viewers.)
BTN is scheduled to also have HD channels on DirecTV by Sept 1.
(as of Aug 15) No Cable company is going to be able to show tOSU games unless it is a National ESPN game on the ESPN channel ( help me out here guys... vs MSU, Minny and Michigan the only games? )

Yeah, I suppose that would be a good way of going about it, as I must confess to assuming the trees will be in the way. That said, I really don't want to switch to Direct. Obviously I want the Ohio State games, but reality is I have options to view the games even with out the switch. Granted, I have to drive to Dayton, but I like visiting my friends out there, so...
Anyway, ultimately, I believe Time Warner is gonna cut a deal and get BTN. I'll even pay the sports tier price of $4.95. It's worth it to me because I like sports, and it would give me more than just the BTN. It [censored]es me off I switched to WOW not even a year ago, and now I want to switch back. I've been generally happy with WOW, but as it turns out, TWs HD package (Free) is better, WOW took away the ala carte HD channel option (which was one of my favorite selling points) and when I called last week, they're willing to do it for about 3 bucks cheaper. So, if they ink a deal, I'm going back to TW.
But, you make a good point. Will they do a sight test for free?

Two things; 1. If the Big ten is a non profit organization where does all the money go and how much does the staff get paid for making the schools so much money since that is where most of the money would have to go.
2. theory; The big ten really is trying this in order to be the main cog in the money wheel of TV. but not for football. They will try to leverage (blackmail) the networks and cable companies to make the Big ten the producer and thus the originator of all Big ten Basketball games and that my friends will be the main crux of the matter for the big ten, To own all the rights for big ten BB and make all the media subordinate to them.
This would millions and even billions for the schools.
