That's not what I've been hearing. I've heard a dollar per customer, could be wrong.

According to the New York Times, the Big Ten is seeking a staggering $1.10 per subscriber in the conference's eight states (by comparison, the NFL Network as of last year was seeking 70 cents per head nationally) and 10 cents elsewhere. The league is also steadfast that the channel be placed on providers' expanded digital-basic lineups alongside ESPN and Fox Sports Net, not packaged as part of a premium "sports tier" to which customers can subscribe for an additional cost. (Though if a cable company did put the channel on basic, it would undoubtedly raise customers' cable bills by $1.10 to compensate).

So, the BTN wants $0.40 more per subscriber then the NFL Network in only eight of 50 states, and $0.60 less than NFLN in the remaining 42 states...and keep in mind that the huge NYC and LA markets are in the $0.10 per subscriber states. That doesn't sound "staggering" to me, but rather quite reasonable.

As Mili alludes, when you do the math, 80% of tv homes are outside of the 8 state region @ a dime a piece. So, I think it adds up to around 22 cents per subscriber overall across the U.S. Once again, a drop in the bucket.

Ok, well I've also heard Big Ten Network is in the process of signing with TWC so hopefully all is well and I'll have Big Ten Network within the next couple weeks!

BTN ran a full page ad in the sports section of the Dispatch today... essentially it was a full-out attack on TW and said that TW should add their channel (of course) and NOT raise their customer's prices. Id' like to see that.
