Option 1 - Go to any good sports bar and they will have BTN - Eat, drink and be merry in the company of fellow Buckeyes. Phone ahead, ask the manager!
Option 2 - Go to a friend's house who has DirecTV - Eat drink and be merry in the company of fellow Buckeyes. Option 3 - Go to the stadium, get a ticket. Hiney Gate - Eat drink and be merry in the company of fellow Buckeyes. OR Option 4 - Ask what to do on an internet message board. (Bad Idea)

this is nothing more than the continued commercialization of college athletics. programs were founded to keep young men in shape post ww1 for the next big war. now its pay per view for broadcast fine, heck not long ago only 2 or so games even were on tv. either pay our shut up. heck im not going to lie it turns me off to college athletics to about the same level that people complaining that the kids should get paid, they get tuition and are stipend, not long ago kids paid their entire way and no athlete got a scholarship.
you have two options: pay the bill and get btn or stfu and put make the choice with your wallet and say no. personally i dont know what i am going to do this year since i dont have tickets. part of me though is feeling apathetic and i may not go anywhere to watch the games, but time will tell.

no see two issues here.
1 it wasnt long ago when you saw the bucks on tv 2 times are year, and hell go back to the 90s and a couple of games wouldnt be on tv each year. 2 you can see every game if you want. cancel your time warner account and get direct tv. you have options, people just refuse to act. big people act, little people react...

Frustration is very understandable.
Asking questions that a read of the thread (or a search of the thread) would answer is what really spurred the recent badinage. And as for BTN taking the fans hostage, isn't it the case that it takes two to dance that tango? TW or Comcast could have had this deal rolled up and smoked with BTN weeks ago.

Heck, it is even moving to HS where OHSAA is putting together a package of televised sports. Think the NCAA has a hard time managing corruption? Wait till big money (at least relatively "big money") starts flowing into HS coffers. (And how long before Massillon asks why they are subsidizing Teays Valley?) Human nature (i.e. greed, incompetence and a lust for power - the very same lust for power that brings you to your feet when Beanie crosses the goal line) remains the same. Just the technology is changing. End rant.

Oh8ch raises (parenthetically) one of the stalking horses of this whole PPV / Subscriber Conference Networks issue.
It isn't just the upstart BTN, it is all the copycats that follow which the cable companies and others are sharpening their pencils to keep the deals light for them. Imagine -- all the major conferences are looking at this BTN develop and see how much financial clout they develop. In effect BTN is pricing the market for the PAc 10, the Big 12, the SEC and so on. Say the following transpires -- Inside the 8-state region BTN commands the sum of $1.10 per subscriber and it all goes on basic tier like they wish. Outside the 8-state footprint the fee becomes $0.10 or less per subscriber. Now as SECTV, Pac10TV, etc, etc jump in on the act they can command a diminished or ratcheted ratio of what the BTN charges. Given that there are a total of six major networks catering to the big BCS conferences - plus the one and only ND network (NBC). The likely addition to the carriers bill per region is now $1.10 + 5 * 0.10 per subscriber. (Though they will likely ask a premium for out of conference area subscribers to view say the SEC, this is a simple treatment). So $1.60 per household for all the BCS big guns. For the remaining conferences maybe we end up with a total of another 30c to carry their offerings - should they dare to invest in the plan, or maybe less if the small conferences aggregate their distributional rights. It could easily come close to $2.00 per household effective cost. Which is still less than what Comcast charges, in aggregate, for their highly localized sports packages with weaker attraction to a narrower geographic area.

Assuming TW and COMCAST don't cut a deal, has anyone heard anything about replays?
As a season ticket holder I don't have a dog in the fight till bball season. But I would like to replay the games. Can you feel my pain?

what sucks is that the big ten network has so far dropped the ball with providing webcasts of the games. now that would be a moneymaker. they could charge a fair amount for a day or season pass. there is a lot of money there. it just goes to show how the big ten network was thrown together at the last second.
11th hour contracts and no webcasts. yeah, they have their stuff together.  one would think that webcasts (with a fee) would be rather easy to do.
