Klein deflects attention

HANOVER -- With a camera, video camera and plenty of microphones usually following his every turn after games this season, Storm Klein has become used to the spotlight.

But most of it is deserved for the standout 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior who already has committed to Ohio State.

Klein has turned into a dominant player on both sides of the ball, rushing for a team-high 1,359 yards and 28 total touchdowns offensively, and racking up a team-high 82 tackles and 12 for loss from his linebacker position.

Advocate: So how much Ohio State talk to you hear on the field after you get tackled?

Klein: People get going about that stuff, but it's nothing you really can do. But then you have guys on your team that say stuff and you're just like, 'Oh, man.' They say stuff a lot.

Advocate: What's the best line you've heard from a teammate this season when you're out there?

Klein: I don't know, but I guess if I'm running the ball a lot, you'll hear the line say something like, 'That's Storm Klein, he's going to Ohio State, baby.' They always say stuff like that, but I just hand the ball back to the referee or whatever. They're all being goofy, but we're all having fun out there and that's what it's all about.

Storm Klein then picked his way through the right side for an 8-yard scoring run with 2:04 left in the quarter. Nick Phillips' 2-point conversion pass to Vince German made it 10-10.
Klein, playing with a sore shoulder, gained 155 yards on 33 carries.
Licking Valley, seeking its first title, had a 12-game winning streak snapped.

over on the bucknuts board i heard that storm was in the hospital because he found blood in his urine and they believe it could be a lacerated kidney, they aren't sure though, so we have to keep him in our prayers.

I just talked to a few of Storm's teammates and he is doing better and will be home sometime Sunday.

Storm was saying BW's players were taking a lot of cheap shots and such at him during the game.

Klein hospitalized after title game

CANTON ? Licking Valley junior Storm Klein remained at Mercy Medical Center in Canton on Saturday evening, a nursing supervisor confirmed.

He was hospitalized after Friday?s Division III state title game. Klein was taken away from Faucett Stadium in an ambulance after the Panthers? 17-10 loss to Big Walnut, Valley coach Randy Baughman confirmed Saturday.

Baughman said Klein sustained a kidney injury on offense in the third quarter, but he was cleared to play the remainder of the game. It was not until Klein became sick after the game that it became clear he needed additional medical attention.

Baughman said Klein was hospitalized with a possible lacerated kidney. Saturday tests did not show any additional kidney deterioration, Baughman said.

The nursing supervisor said Klein was in stable condition and likely would be discharged sometime Sunday.
