Who now for the title game?
Now that we can finally put the Big Least behind us, who should get the nod for the second slot in the championship game?
1. Texas. 2. Winner of the USC/Cal game? 3. Winner of the USC/ND game? 4. Winner of the SEC championship game? 5. Auburn. 6. Loser of the OSU/Michigan game? (Assumption in all cases of course is that the team in question is still a one loss team.) I am now on the Cal bandwagon. Texas if it weren't a (knock on wood) rematch. |

My personal vote, SEC winner.
Texas got dominated at home, they're out. USC also lost at home to a lesser team, they're out. [EDIT: they lost on the road to Oregon State, my bad] Michigan doesn't get rematch, period. Because really nobody wants to see that. ... Just my opinions. The SEC winner deserves it above anyone else. That and I'm just not a fan of rematches. If I had to personally choose an opponet, it would be Texas. I live in Texas and to see Ohio State dominate them AGAIN for the second time in a season would be a dream come true... What I think the order should be. Not saying any of these will play out, just what I think if they do.
#1 1 loss USC if they can run the table. That 50 point beat down of Arkansas at Ark is just huge to me. #2 A 1 loss SEC champ no matter who it is UF/AUB/Ark #3 A 1 loss Texas team but if we are in it I don't think the pollsters want a rematch. If Cal wins out put them #2 and move a 1 lossSEC champ to #1 If the 1 loss teams continue to struggle or drop a game then the case for a 1 loss OSU to rematch tsun becomes much more valid imo. UF, Auburn, Arkansas, Cal, USC, could all very well lose a game again before its all said and done. Picture is much more muddled now that L'ville and WVU are gone. |

So, do you think that there are more people starting to hop on that playoff bandwagon given the scenarios that are unfolding?

True, but if we were among the one loss teams who were on the outside looking in (which could happen if *gasp* we lose next week), I'd think that this playoff thing would sound pretty damn appealing.

There is always going to have to be that trade off. A playoff system essentially rewards the team who has the best tournamnet not neccessarily the "best" team. The current system's shortcomings are well documented. I personally beleive a seeding system and home field/bye weeks based on your seed keeps enough reward for regular season excellence and still settles it on the field. The NFL playoff model is a s close as you can get to perfect imo. |

1 loss sec team...thats who is gonna get my vote this year...
they seem to be the best overal conference this season.. altho i wouldnt mind playing texas again..hell, i REALLY wouldnt mind playing ND again |

In all reality I think the winner of the SEC championship game, (if they have only 1 loss) will probably get in. Wild card is the Doomers, if they win out the media will have a field day singing their praises.

They would need USC to win out, tsun to beat us, the SEC champ to have 2 losses and Texas drop one more to even be considerd. If we beat tsun its over for them no matter what they do. No one's going to vote a 1 loss ND over a 1 loss tsun after what happened head to head. The pollsetrs are simply not as in love with ND this year as we are used to. |
