More Important Game? This weekend or OSU/Miami Championship game
All the buildup to this game got me to thinking, what game is more important in the annals of tOSU football history, this game tOSU vs. scUM or our national championship game vs. Miami?
My fist thought was this game was bigger. First ever 1 vs. 2 matchup in this, the greatest rivalry in all of sports. Everything on the line. One team and its legion of fans will feel like gods for a year while the others will walk away broken-hearted by what might have been. Then I remember how dominant that Miami team was. They were on a steak of about 30 straight wins. Nobody gave us a chance. We actually got Trev Alberts to shut his face for once and admit we were the better team after our win. For me, it is a tough call. It is great to be national champs, but I don't think I could possibly take THIS loss to Michigan (not that it is even possible we could lose this game). Thoughts? OSU UM 2006! I said I'd never experience what happened in 2003 again in my lifetime, but it can happen 4 years later if we take care of business and WIN THE BIG TEN OUTRIGHT!

Tough call.
On one hand, you exorcise the Cooper demons and decades of no titles. OSU personally begins the downward spiral of The U. On the other hand, you establish JT/OSU as a dynasty... demoralize Carr's best team (yet another failure for 1-5 lloyd), and go on to face a very beatable title game opponent. Another thing to consider is the drama behind the titles. In 2003, MoC & the media smeared the program endlessly. The 2003 recruiting class was fairly weak. This year, Troy's redemption is praised. He will be the star of CFB this year in NYC. Assuming nothing else pops up, this title should have a far more positive vibe. I realize 2003 was a bigger win, but I can't stomach UM in the title game. |

That game was against scum south which for some idiots is still debated even after the game has been over for 5 years! This game is in THE GAME and will be reminisced on for the next 50 years! The greatest rivalry in sports against one of college football's biggest "upsets". For real fans of the Ohio State University this is a no-brainer I think. Anytime we beat scUM its glorious. When we can beat them when they are undefeated and we are on our way to a national championship, its God's will.

It is just fodder. Something to think about, something to pass the time between now and the big game. It is interesting to hear others thoughs about it. You don't have to be a jerk about it. |

2002 was all about "The Season" and not just the title game. That game just capped off and exhilarating and exhausting year.
2006 is all about "The Game" and nothing else (not beating Tejas, not the NC game) is going to have the hype and hoopla of this game. So, I vote for this one as being "more important" as an individual game, although win or lose I still think winning the NC in '02 did more for this program than any single game. It moved us from annually being ranked at or around 10th each year in the pre-season to being a solid top 5 program year in and year out... something not seen since the early 70s. ![]() |

I voted for tOSU V. scUm...Simply because this is THE Biggest Rivalry in college football. It is #1 v #2 (obvious). Also this has the biggest reprocussions for the outcome. With THE biggest rivalry and a chance to go to the BCS championship game. I know the Stadium will be rockin'.
