Tell me if I'm missing something
I bought Phil Steele's College Football preview mag at lunch today and gave it the quick once over....
He has Nick Patterson (DB) and Rory Nicol (TE) listed at WR (In the section captioned "Top 463 Freshman") I suppose I could see Patterson there, but Nicol? I should also note, there is a section for TE, so that's not the reason Nicol was listed as a WR.
Says Lyons is the #11 DB. I thought he was almost assuredly going to be a WR?
He also has Fred Davis as #3 WR (Behind Doucet and Carter)... Just FYI.

I noticed the same thing....I think that he puts a lot more stock in current players then he does in recruits. He has all sorts of mathematical models that he uses to calculate teams but he is pretty good at identifying current college talent.

I wpuld love to see what his mathematical models are. More importantly, I would love to see what assumptions he makes what the independent variables are. And I would love to see what numerical values, if any, he has assigned to different things in his models and how he came up with those values.
It isn't too difficult to come up with a mathematical model for many things, but if your assumptions are [censored]ty, the definition of independent variables are [censored]ty, and the assignment of numerical values to different parts of the model is [censored]ty, then what comes out of the model is quite simply, pure [censored]. (On the other hand, maybe he does know Jack [censored] )
