Fans getting together in Glendale?

My husband and I are Buckeye fans that live in Alabama. We are going to Glendale for the game, and I was wondering if anyone knows about any OSU tailgating, parties, etc.? We would love to get together with other Buckeye faithful. If anyone has any other info or sites with this info, please let me know!

I am also concerned with this as well. While I can no doubtledly amuse myself in Vegas and Phoonix leading up to Monday, I am concerned about the festivities around the stadium on gameday. Does anyone know if there are local bars, should I bring some booze on the charter bus ride, or is the tailgate ticket the way to go. I am confident there will be several tailgating lots. I enjoy the pregame festivities as well, and was hoping someone may have a little insight to help. Thx

I'll be in town from the 6th to 11th. Hopefully the area around the stadium is decent on gameday. It looks like it's in the middle of nowhere.

I lived out on that side of town before moving to the east side where I live now. I get out to that area occasionally; the last time about a week ago. There really isn't much there, yet. The U of Phoenix stadium is out at Loop 101 (about 99th avenue) and Glendale Avenue, which was desert two years ago. There's been absolutely unbelievable growth in that area, but mostly in shopping and housing. There is a Gordon Biersch microbrewery on the stadium grounds parking lot about 100 yards from the entrance. I've eaten at the one in Honolulu and the food and beer are quite good. It may be a good place to rally before the game, as you can stumble to your seat from there. It wasn't open last week, but should open any day. There is a hotel between the stadium and the hockey arena which won't be open, and a shopping mall which may or may not be open by game day. I didn't drive out to the west side of the loop, but saw the signs for a Costco and some other shopping. I'm guessing there are eating/imbibing places like Chili's, etc. there. The area is spacious, quite unlike Tempe, site of the old Fiesta Bowl, so any place to eat or drink other than Biersch will require a drive. The sheriff has already indicated his staff will be out in force to enforce DUI statutes, and he means it. If you drink away from the stadium, take a cab or use a designated driver. The AZ Republic was full of stories in '03 of fans who thought law enforcement would look the other way so as not to discourage tourism. They spent a couple days in tent city (county jail) with the degenerates waiting for a court appointment then missed their flights home.

This site was great leading up to the Fiesta Bowl last year. They listed everything that was happening, schedules for the pep rally, where TBDBITL was performing, where to tailgate, Buckeye friendly bars, etc. I spent the whole New Year weekend in the Phoenix / Tempe area and had a blast. I am sure even though the game is in Glendale, they will still be posting events for the area in the near future, just keep checking back at the link below or call or email them. I live in southern Arizona and plan on being in Glendale the weekend prior through the championship game even though I don't have tickets. I just love the atmosphere and hanging out with fellow Buckeyes, even though I live in Arizona now, my heart is in OHIO! I also read in the Phoenix newspaper that the city of Buckeye, Arizona is planning a Buckeye day for all the Buckeye fans, and I beleive that is on the Saturday before the game but I will double check that. Buckeye is not too far from the Phoenix / Glendale area. Anyway, here is the link, and hope to see ya in Glendale!

i don't think the atmosphere is going to be as fun as when the game was in tempe. like the poster said above the stadium is in the middle of nowhere. my friends and i are all staying in old town scottsdale. none of us have tickets so we are worried about going to the stadium trying to scalp then if we don't get tickets we'll be stuck with nowhere to watch the game. has anyone heard if the VC is taking over any bars this year? if so I may just go there for the game.
