June 18, 2007 DiLillo Reverses Decision By Phil Kornblut TE Nick DiLillo (6-6 225) of Madison, OH, who committed to Clemson in April, contacted Clemson Monday night and decommitted according to CUTigers.com. DiLillo told the website he called recruiter Billy Napier with the news of his change of heart which he said was based on the distance from his home to Clemson. DiLillo said the 12 hour drive was too much for his parents and they would not get to see him play often there. DiLillo said he is reopening his recruiting but he is believed to be leaning now to Pittsburgh. |

Good stuff grad...I would love to see us take another look at DeLillo. I really think if we miss on Ayles (which is a good possibility), DeLillo could be a real target.

Nic
I will have the opportunity to coach against Nic this season. It should be a challenge. There was an article in the local paper about him the other day. He claimed, at the time, to be solid to Clemson.

...been waiting on a link, but I have also received verification that the initial rumors were true.

O-Zone: Nic Dillilo was offered by JT last night (m)
I'm not so sure I like this offer. I think we'd be fine waiting until next year to get a tight end. I like our depth right now. |

I respectfully disagree...

I've been talking with wade and we both like the offer... I think he's a prototype OSU TE... I've liked him better than Moore for our offense from the get go...

JT and staff do not reach when they offer. Especially this early. I'm sure he fits the system and is worthy of an offer. This suprises me. They must see a need for a TE. Next years crop might be a bit thin at this position.

Kid is already a very good blocking type of TE. This is what we do with the TE. We use them to block first and maybe catch a ball of two. This has seemed to work so far and if kids like Koger keep turning away because we dont throw the ball down the field to the TE then I would think we continue to do the same, especially if we are loaded with speedy wr`s and running the spread offense. If this is the way the staff wants to go... so be it. I am fine with it. If they want Nick, I want Nick. If they want a blocking TE... we will have WR's sprinting down each side of the field all day long. Gives the QB more time to throw and allows the guys in the backfield more opportunities to catch it and run with it (good for guys like Mo Wells, Brandon Saine and hopefully Lamaar Thomas). Everybody remember Andree Tyree? Name ring a bell? Tressel was glorified for bringing in a seldom used OLman as a extra blocker against scUM 2 years ago. Essentially this is the TE's job in Tress & Co.'s system
