Besides the fact that I didn't want to see Notre Dame in a BCS bowl, I like this idea of matching up Oklahoma and Louisville.
But even as the games are, I think they're pretty good matchups.

Which brings up another hilarious point... I was reading in the paper that thousands of LSU fans had already purchased tickets to the Rose Bowl!

Agreed.
Get past Buckeyes and Florida, USC vs TSUN and you have a very mixed bag.
Those first two games will have a huge amount of hype, a great deal riding on the outcome.
For the BCS Championship the importance is obvious, in addition you have the storylines of SEC vs Big 10, first ever time the two programs have met, and two very good teams meeting on January 8th.
In the Rose it a mix of tradition and redemption, who wants it more, who has more to prove, to themselves, to the college football world? It is also a matchup of two good teams.
Sugar - LSU vs Notre Dame, sorry, but this mix of two two-loss teams looks to be yet another depantsing in waiting for He Who Will Not Win The Heisman. LSU has speed to burn and a QB who himself wishes to make a last statement about his viability as a pro prospect. The Irish fans may have a disadvantage in ticket placement as so many (estimated 42,000) LSU fans pre-bought rights to another bowl game, and now are shuffling quickly I'm sure to convert those packages to their second home stadium in the Big Easy.
Orange Bowl - simply a huge mismatch, no matter which way one slices or dices this. Louisville has more offense on their scout squad than Wake Forest was able to muster against Georgia Tech. Perhaps there should be a BCS rule about Bowl qualification and winning your Conference, one that holds the winning of the same to prove that you really are a good team.
Fiesta - Boy, yet another storyline Bowl with the Out Of BCS Conference Boise State meeting the Sooners. Who wants to be there? Boise State certainly, Oklahoma, not so clear. This may prove to be what the sportwriters term an intriguing matchup, but likely will end up less entertaining than hoped or hyped. Amongst which hype we will hear about 12-0 Boise State, the great coaching job of Stoops facing so much controversy this year.

USC-Michigan is obviously the best matchup. It will be difficult for that Michigan defensive line to penetrate that USC offensive line. But if they can, Booty throws a minimum 3 picks.
Oklahoma-Boise State would be more intriguing if Bob Stoops weren't such a damn good coach. Boise could have given Wake, Louisville, or Notre Dame a game, but not the Sooners.
LSU-ND could be ugly. The Irish offense will struggle to put any points on the board if they can't protect Brady. Here's betting that the big dogs up front for the Tigers get to eat.
Wake-L-Ville is the least appealing. But you have to give Wake its due, and it will be interesting to see if the ACC Champs can give their conference a one up on the Big East in an up-year for the latter and a down year for the former.

I gotta admit, I think I'm going to be pulling for TSUN in the Rose. I've grown so freaking sick of the USC and Pete Carroll media machine that I would love to see them get thumped by a Big 10 school. It's all a by-product of the arrogant Three-Pete crap that ended up being nothing more than a single championship. And before anyone brings up 2003, LSU won that NC. If you don't recognize the BCS champion as the NC, then why in the hell does it exist?
Also, I will thoroughly enjoy watching the Domers get their heads handed to them.
Oklahoma and Boise? Yuck. I'll watch it, but who freaking cares?
Wake and Louisville. I gotta pull for Wake. It's awesome that Wake out matched the ACC juggernauts and sent Florida Speed home for the year.

Well........technically most of them purchased refundable advances from the school itself, which was pre-selling ticket advances to the Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Citrus (oops...C*****l O** Bowl). Probably most of them bought all four.
What I don't like to see is people complaining that the matchups are bad because of the teams that got in. A lot of people (I don't mean just people on this board, I mean all over) think it's not a good matchup if the teams don't come from the list of the usual suspects. If Wake Forest put on garnet and gold, that would be enough to brainwash a lot of people into calling the Orange Bowl a terrific matchup - but since it's the Deacs and not the Criminoles, they get dismissed.

I don't know if I agree. Right now, I'd take LSU over USC. I know it was a rivalry game, but USC's offense looked lost against UCLA's defense yesterday. I'd be surprised if LSU couldn't do the same to them.

I disagree with your first statement. UCLA had no trouble at all putting pressure on Booty yesterday, and I'd take scUM's D line over UCLA's every day of the week. Booty has shown he can be rattled, and I expect scUM to do so consistently during their game.

USC-Michigan should be an interesting matchup. UM has the ability to pressure Booty, but can they cover Jarrett, Smith, and Turner? Wait, I forgot, and even, Fred Davis? Can Hart find open gaps against the vaunted SC linebacking corps? The wildcard is Henne. If he's hot, the Wolverines can make their rightful claim....... to #3.
ND-LSU will be interesting to me, for no other reason than to see Charlie Weis match wits with Bo Pelini. LSU has been impressive, but ....... you give Weis a month to prepare, all bets are off.
Oklahoma-Boise State...... Well, Boise fans keep claiming that they belong with the nation's elite, so they will get their chance. Sorry, OU will be a little faster and stronger than anyone in the WAC. And if AP plays, it will be even uglier.
Wake-Louisville.... Sorry, I'll miss this one as it is a travel day for me ....(returning from a Disneyland trip with the family, just got a horrible thought, I'll be there the same time that thousands of UM fans might be in the area, must pack my Buckeye shirts). Let me know who wins this classic.
