Well, everybody knows Stewart Mandel is an Ohio State homer...
Quote:
Illinois Coach Ron Zook voted Florida No. 2 ahead of Michigan. Zook, of course, was the Florida coach before Urban Meyer.
Circle this date: Michigan plays at Illinois on Oct. 20.
And so much for Miles someday getting the Michigan job: The coach, who played for Bo Schembechler and was a longtime Wolverines assistant, voted Florida No. 2.
Miles has always been on the short list of possible successors to Lloyd Carr.
Well, at least he had been.

I like how the LA Times writer took the Michigan viewpoint hook, line and sinker in his column.

And that same LAtimes sport entertainment staff picked Cryami by a zillion points before our Bucks beat 'em in AZ.

so when osu smokes UF in Glendale after USC beats a downtrodden michigan team, how long will it be before we hear that usc would have beaten osu if they didn't look past ucla.

My guess would be right after the NC game. I am pretty sure if USC blows out UM we'll be hearing it the whole time leading up to as well.
Heh, I live in SoCal and the day after the USC/UCLA game I walked into "Your Buckeyes got lucky, we would have destroyed you!" Nothing quite like the hype that USC has.

Ugh... the ESPN college football podcast before the USC vs. UCLA game was horrible. All Beano Cook and Ivan Maisel wanted to talk about was how USC would be playing for their 4th national championship in 4 years.
I just have one word for everybody on the USC bandwagon: onepeat.
It [censored]es me off that USC fans think they have a national title from 2002. Thank God for Tressel... he wins real championships!

Excellent Commentary from MGOBLOG re Tressel BCS Vote
Quote:
4. What is the general impression of Tressel abstaining from his poll vote, his vote for UM would have surely put you guys in the title game. Some have commended him for staying neutral others have hammered him for not having the guts to take a stand. How do you feel?
Um... Tressel's vote wouldn't have mattered either way. During D-Day I wasn't surprised or concerned. I probably would have done the same thing in his position, since however he voted it would have been spun as an insult to his opponent. If he had gone with Michigan, Florida would have bulletin board material about bias and not wanting to play Florida and SEC disrespect. If he had gone with Florida, Florida would have claimed disrespect since Tressel wanted them instead of Michigan. There would be dozens of columns, all of them very, very dumb, about the vote and what it means.
As far as I can tell, the argument for having Tressel cast a ballot revolves around "balls" and stuff about how he signed up to vote and knew what he was getting into, but Tressel's job is to do what's best for Ohio State and that's what he did.

Excellent commentary from the fine MGoBlog site.
