My biggest problem with this policy is that many times the URL to an article will be changed and you will no longer be able to access it with the link provided. Also, articles do get removed, especially embarrassing ones about how badly Criami was going to beat the Buckeyes in 2003. As a newbie, I really shouldn't say this, but you are ruining the best sports message board on the Web.
I feel better now.

Glad you feel better. However, something tells me we will survive the change and continue to prosper

New rules

we will no longer allow entire articles to be copied even if they are free. Please simply link the article and either copy the title or give a brief summary. Thanks for understanding.
|
I have been critiqued as being to wordy... This will be more of a challenge but it's a new year and what the hell. Although I enjoy picking the articles apart, we are just having fun here and not I'm not trying to rewrite "War and Peace". I just don't want to loose someone in a link... Is the issue the fact that we are copying something that is copyrighted? Or is it the volume that is being generated by the more prolific posters?

I think this policy sucks too. I'd rather read the article here than be linked to another site.

I don't mind the new policy. Full articles used to take up tons of space. With the article summary and having it quoted, I think its kind of easier to pick what you want to read what you don't want to read. Just open the link in a new tab or a window and continue browsing BP. I will say, however, that actually visiting CFN to read their articles is the worst. Good god, it's like pulling teeth! There are so many pop-ups, pop-unders, and flash ads on that site. Its torturous.

I'm looking into the possibility of having a form that would allow the posting of a full article, but while the link is valid, only the first X characters are displayed in the post. May not be practical, it's also very low on my priority list for work around here, AND I'd want to see how folks from the Dispatch, Bucknuts, BuckeyeGrove, Scout, and the O-zone felt about it before implementing it, because our focus remains being a responsible and respected fan community.

When Bucknuts and BuckeyePlanet were young websites back in 2001 and 2002 it was pretty easy to post anything but it had to be a nightmare for the
administrators and ones who monitored all the postings and believe you me there were some real crazy posting and outrageous thread going on back in them days. It was funny stuff to read but like i said a nightmare for the ones like C-Dog to keep it all in line. Now everything is in a neat little forum of somekind to keep it all running smooth. Props to you guys for keeping this one of the better websites around.
