Nike+ tOSU-UF Challenge
I'm surprised nobody has posted anything about this yet. I couldn't believe it when I saw the commercial. It's part of Nike's new ad campaign. The challenge is that tOSU will run more miles in Jan than UF or erect a gator statue on campus. If tOSU wins, they are supposed to erect a Brutus statue.

In order to participate, you have to have the Nike/Ipod running shoes. Go to http://www.nike.com/nikeplus/ to register, the challenges are in the community section. It's about a day into the contest and tOSU is down 497mi to UF's 586mi. I must say I've never seen advertising like this. Too bad you have to have their stupid shoes to participate. [Edit: actually you don't, see R0CK3TM4NN's post below... although you need their sensor]. I like my Addidas kicks just fine.

i thought it was a joke when i saw it. if it is indeed a real thing, and they are really going to put a statue on either of the campuses, i doubt they would last very long before someone doing something to them to get rid of them.

Exactly what I was thinking. Could you imagine what they would do to a gator statue if we lost to them? I can guarantee it would be worse than a burning couch!

[censored]! I need to upload my data! I got over 50 miles logged on that bad boy! C'mon guys, I know its cold outside but we got an indoor track at the RPAC!
If we win and have to erect a gator statue on campus, it would be dressed in drag or something hilarious like that.

You don't need their shoes. You can tuck the sensor in between the laces and the tongue of any shoe and it works fine. Also, you can cut a hole the size of the sensor in your sole and it works perfectly. Thats what I did to my Asics. |

i run all the time but dont have the shoes so at the moment im a no go on it but i HATE the RPAC indoor track because its such a ridiculously slick surface to run on so i just run around campus instead.  i do wish there was a full size track there so i could do sprints, gassers, etc. |
