Future Bucks' Draft Predictions
I know I always tell myself to enjoy them while they're here, but I'm constantly wondering where certain players of ours will go in future drafts. For example, being a big cb fan, I love thinking about Malcolm going in the top 10 in either next year's draft or God bless, the one after that. Regardless, I just thought this would be a fun thread considering how we are forever loaded with NFL talent. I can't predict for all players, but here are a bunch of extremely humble guesses. I'm sure I'll be off on about 80% of them, but anyways.
If you think this is absurd, feel free to look away. Just bored and at work. M. Jenkins - 1st round A. Smith - 5th J. Lauranaitis - 1st M. Freeman - 3rd C. Terry - 6th V. Gholston - 2nd-3rd L. Wilson - 3rd-4th Q. Pitcock - 1st J. Richardson - 6th D. Patterson - 4th-5th T. Ginn Jr. - 1st A. Gonzalez - 1st A. Pittman - 2nd (waits a year, maybe late 1st) C. Wells - 1st T. Smith - 1st K. Barton - 2nd (waits a year, maybe late 1st) A. Boone - 1st D. Datish - 2nd-3rd S. Rehring - ? T.J. Downing - 3rd R. Hall - 7th R. Nicol - 6th Feel free to alter/adjust/update! |

I don't know that Yao, Nicol or Roy Hall are going to be drafted.
MJ, Boone and Wells are not just 1st rounders, but should all be Top 5 picks. |

Vernon Gholston should also be a first rounder. I may sound a little biased but i think two solid all-big ten years could get JAM-O into the first round, mostly based on his athleticism and measurables.

Whitner was the first safety taken in the first in 13 years, I can't see O'Neal doing the same. He may not start again at OSU (Russell will be the favorite once he's healthy again).

Couldn't both be the starting safeties next year?

Doubtful. Normally a FS will be a bigger stick and definately a better tackler than O'neil is. I still think O'neil is a corner playing safety. Nick Patterson would be my guess to be starting beside Russell. At least Patterson would have to considered the front runner to replace Mitchell. Who knows, someone unexpected may emerge after the spring. |

Just like Kudla huh?

Edit-That may have been a bad example. We've seen enough of Boone to know he's on the right path to being a top 5-10 pick. We haven't seen Chris have to carry the load yet. He's shown flashes but I won't be sold until I see him start. |

Waaay to early to guess on most of the guys, to much can happen between now and when they are actually in a position to be drafted.
Pitcock & Ginn are sure 1st rounders this year. Troy is right on the cusp. A big game tomorrow and some impressive workouts will get him into round one. Just has the height issue. As for the rest, I'd say Beanie and Boone have the most "potential" to go very high in round one. Jenkins looks to be the next Buckeye CB picked high. Lil' Animal looks like a future first rounder as well. The rest are kinda hard to say. Gholston is a freak, but I really thought Kudla would go on day one last year, so... |

I'll just stick to the starters:
Ginn, Smith, Pitcock, Gonzalez, Barton, Boone, Laurinaitis, Jenkins, Gholston: First Round Pittman, Washington, O'Neal/Russell, Rehring, Robiskie: First Day Datish, Downing, Freeman, Richardson, Mitchell, Patterson, Nicol, Yao: Second Day or UDFA I know this is a bit of projection for Washington and whoever wins the SS position (I think Russell and O'Neal can start together), but they'll be starting for the remainder of their careers, I suspect. |

Barton -- 1st Gholston -- 1st Terry -- 4th Wilson -- 2nd Freeman -- 2nd I think you're too high on: Nicol -- undrafted Pittman -- 3rd Hall -- undrafted |

CPD
Speedy Ginn Jr. looks like OSU's top pro Monday, January 22, 2007 Ohio State juniors Ted Ginn Jr., Anthony Gonzalez and Antonio Pittman are skipping their final year of eligibility and joining senior quarterback Troy Smith in the NFL draft. What Ohio State player do you believe has the best chance to be successful as a pro? |

JL is a great player, but generally MLB's are not first round value in the NFL. Past OSU All American MLB's: Katzenmoyer (the most athletic of the group) was very low first round selection, Spielman went very high in the second round, Steve Tovar was a third rounder, and Matt Wilhelm went in the fourth; Marcus Marek was a ninth-round selection in the USFL.

O'Neal might be a guy who simply peaked as a sophomore in high school. |
