Both my father and I were fine with the call at the time. Shocked that we didn't get it. Not much else to say, we had 2 shots at gaining one yard and couldn't do it, says a lot about team last night.

Of course it was the right call.
JT sent in the play did he not?
I have no business questioning a coach who won 14 games in one season. JT has forgotten more about football than I'll ever know.

Thing is though in the post game presser Jim himself says "wrong call" - so you would not be disagreeing with him at all (or really doubting him) for he has no doubt that the call was the wrong call.

Q. Jim, the 4th and one call with like four minutes left in the second quarter, is that one of those all or nothing sort of calls that you're looking to spark your team?
COACH TRESSEL: We thought we could make it, and the good news was is our defense did a great job of holding them to three, which was outstanding.
But, you know, it ended up being the wrong call, obviously

Yeah, but that's just JT putting the blame on himself, IMO.
As in, "the right call would have given us a first down".
So, if I say it was the right call, am I disagreeing with JT? Now I'm confused.

No. I still don't understand it. The conservative coach that states the punt is the most important play in football goes for it on his own 29 only down 7. Still scratching my head.

Yes! I think JT wanted to get the team focused. It seemed the entire team was asleep - and I think he wanted to wake them up. I too was wondering why there was never a measurement...uh - Pac 10?
