Garrett is currently in the best shape (Strength & speed wise) of his life. He has reduced his body fat % considerably (changed his eating habits) and he is 6'5" 285+ lbs. According to reliable sources who I keep in contact with (Sorry I cannot provide names) Garrett is expected to be part of the (4) four man DT rotation. He is listed as 2nd string DT behind Doug Worthington (if that has any significance at this point) Anyways IMO the only way Garrett does not get regular PT this season is if he suffers an injury. Due to his wrestling career he has played thru injury / pain yet GOD has protected him from suffering serious injury (broken limbs) so far.
Heacock / Tressel have huge expectations from Garrett as his Buckeye career progresses. GOD willing Garrett will contribute to the success of Buckeye football for the next several seasons. He desires to play for a National championship much more than any personal accolades / recognition he could receive (Which is a main reason he became a Buckeye!!)

X, I too can't wait until the violence ensues, though thank God from a different perspective, as I don't think my 43 year old bones would hold up real well between the lines

Nice to see Garrett get in some quality time with a good hobby that will serve him well in life, we all need our little distractions and fishing is a pretty innocuous one.

xpunisher, For what its worth, be sure to compliment Garrett on his studies. After my brief Div. 1 football career, I gained a full grade point once I quit. People have no idea how difficult it is to play D1 ball and succeed in the classroom, and how big of an accomplishment it is to get the kind of grades Garrett is getting.

Every time I speak w/ Garrett (Almost daily) I address his current classes +grades. Like yourself my D1 football career ended prematurely & I constantly remind Garrett that he is ONLY ONE PLAY AWAY from never playing football again. So far his GPA is 3.2. When I saw Coach JT last October he said to me "Garrett is going to be one heck of a ball player for us BUT BEFORE THAT I AM GOING TO MAKE SURE HE BECOMES ONE HECK OF A STUDENT!!! This comment just reaffirmed what I already knew & that is OSU is EXACTLY where Garrett is to get a quality degree while experiencing highly competitive college football!!...Amen

Not to be ungrateful for Garrett's recognition (Nor discredit CFN & other athlete's honored in this article) however I heard that as a Buckeye recipient of the "award" OSU will be installing a small "certificate of validation from CFN" above all the toilet paper dispensers in the Woody Hayes Center (In Garrett's honor of course)
***I hope I am not banned for this pathetic attempt of sarcasm as I am not discrediting Garrett for all of his hard work as a redshirt. I am thankfull he was redshirted as this was a HUGE benefit to him as he got a good taste of competitive college football & used this experience to grow, learn & be extremely motivated for this upcoming season (Not to mention benefitting academically which is most important to any "student athlete" yet often overshadowed by the pressure to excel athletically, however JT has demonstrated the priority of his players to excel in the classroom as proven by OSU's "All Big Ten Academic honoree's")

No problem. CFN also recognized Jake Stoneburner as the all-redshirt-freshman tight end. That position is on the other side of the ball, so that makes it even easier to classify a 'certificate of validation' as offensive.
