Terry (and Bryant Browning) is wearing a boot on one of his feet. Could be the reason why. Or, maybe Grant just stepped his play up.

Linebackers are heart of OSU defense Buckeyes have six players, three of them local, who could start for most teams. By Mark Gokavi Staff Writer Wednesday, April 11, 2007 COLUMBUS ? James Laurinaitis is considered one of the best linebackers in the nation. But when the junior All-American and Bronko Nagurski Award winner looked at his fellow Ohio State linebackers after spring practice Tuesday, he saw bigger, faster and stronger. "It's humbling," Laurinaitis said, using his hands to illustrate his level of play. "You go from here (shoulder) to up there (over his head). Still, in my mind, I still picture myself down here (at his waist). |

Football Linebackers Hoping to Play Faster in 2007 By John Porentas OK all you I-can-quote-everybody's-40-time football fans out there, pull up a chair and learn something. There's a difference between being fast and playing fast. At least that's what a relatively young crop of Buckeyes linebackers are saying these days. What's interesting is that the group we're talking about is for the most part players who are entering their second year in the lineup, and it is just now that they are discovering what we're trying to tell you about 40 times and playing fast. When 40 times are measured there aren't a whole lot of variables. You have a runner, a start line, and a finish line. When the timer says go, the runner runs as fast as he can from the start line to the finish. Pretty simple. It isn't all that simple on a football field. Cont... |

We have a great group of linebackers and each and everyone of them knows they have to bring their "A" game everytime to start or play. The best will play.
They not only have to play fast but quick. Quick can beat fast, Fast can beat quick given the positions. Great foot work is essential in LB and every other position. Quickness and Speed and Footwork = Miami |

I have now read in a few places this year that Grant is looking good. I can't wait for him to prove my doubts unfounded; there is no better feeling. |

I want to see Freeman be more physical, knocking people down.
I want to see Homan react faster. Grant react faster, too! If these guys can play faster we will dominate! ![]() |

It's pretty damn exciting to see where our back 7 will be for the next several years...

Absolutely no doubt whom LB U is. PSU will drop considerably after Poz is gone this season and OSU keeps plugging them in and dominating. I look for Laurenaitis to get the Butkus this year.

1) I just hope we have some replacements for Quinn Pitcock and other d- linemen. Nothing like a couple of ass kickers up front to make your linebackers look fantastic. I thought last year's down linemen were some of the best in OSU history.
2) I hope the Buckeyes use a more aggressive scheme with the LBs than the one they showed in the BCS game. It looked to me like they were 15 yards down field on each play and seldom in position to make a play. |
