Looking for buckeye roster info (1970-1974)
I have acquired the next best thing to the holy grail, a football signed by 68 buckeye players and Woody himself!!! It includes 29 starters from the 1972&1973 seasons. Out of the 68 players that signed the ball 58 lettered on the team between 1970 and 1974. There are a few players I cannot identify was hoping you might give me some direction.
I have been able to find a list of starters for the team but would like to find a full roster for those years. Any suggestions? Thanks for any input. There are three players that I cannot find on the ball, Archie Griffin, Pete Johnson, and Brian Baschnagel. Here are the names I cannot identify. The spelling could be way off, some of the signatures are barely legible. Scott Jones Tom McBreyer Bob Miller Jim Meckstroth Brendan Donovan Bob Murphy Tom Szabo Chuck Baxter George Rohaump (spelling could be way off, hard to read) John Husbord (spelling could be way off, hard to read) Ed Tsipanier (spelling could be way off, hard to read) Erest E Delno (spelling could be way off, hard to read) Coach John Mulruney |

I heard about these. Every one of these balls is covered with forgeries. Virtually worthless. Might as well go ahead and mail it to me.
Sorry, I'm no help on the actual question. |

On the heels of last night's game, with today's obligatory Florida trolls, your name almost got banned by being too close to "miamirudy"

Tom Szabo was a DT on the 1973 team (hometown is Elyria; #94). John Husband was a OG on the 1972-1973 teams (hometown is Elyria; #61). Edwin Trepanier was a DT on the 1972 squad (hometown is Rocky River). Scott Jones was a WR on the 1972 team (hometown is Parma). Brendan Donovan was a DE on the 1972 team (hometown is Columbus). Charles Baxter was a TE on the 1972 squad (hometown is Painesville). Bob Murphy was a WR on the 1972 team (hometown is Seattle, Washington). Last edited by LordJeffBuck; 04-03-2007 at 11:54 AM. |

When it comes to the state of Wisconsin's class of 2008, you won't find any player with a better football pedigree than that of Cuba City QB/DB Jake Meckstroth.
Meckstroth's grandfather Jim Meckstroth played football at Michigan State, uncle Kurt Meckstroth played at the U.S. Military Academy, father Jim Meckstroth Jr. played at Ohio State, and cousin Vic Meckstroth played at Wisconsin. |

The one might be Earl Belgrave who was a OT on the 1972 team from Brooklyn, NY. I'm still studying "Bob Miller"
Possibly "Bob Willard" minus the "d" at the end. Nothing else I can think of, Willard was here in the early 70's. Last edited by WoodyWorshiper; 04-04-2007 at 11:54 PM. |

More info found and a GREAT website!!
I found a GREAT PDF file that lists all jersey numbers issued and what years. Do a google search on:
Ohio State All-Time Jersey Listing Here is more info that I found on the PDF file. Bob miller was issued #43 in 1972 Jim Meckstroth was issued #54 in 1971 & 72 I don't know why these two were not listed as lettermen. Maybe they were injured or just didn't letter. Also, I found out that George Chaump was the quarterbacks coach. And John Mummey (coach) also played for Woody 60-62 and was the starting quarterback in 1961. Still cannot find any info on who Erest E Delno? Selno?, Jelno? could be. Again, a huge thanks for you input, it definitely helped! |

I see that the Ohio State official athletic site has your father listed as wearing #58 in 1971, #95 in 1972, and #58 in 1973 ... #58 and #68 are interior lineman numbers, while #95 is usually used for ends. Could it be that he switched from guard in 1971 to tight end in 1972 back to guard in 1973? Anyway, thanks for the update. |
