My Buckeye
Well I was born in akron and was born and raised there for the first 16 years of my life. My father, and especially my grandpa were the reason's I became buckeye fans. The farthest thing I can remember is sittin near a fire at my grandparents house watching Ohio State play football.
I moved to Virginia after my freshman year in high school, and at first I was pissed leaving the buckeye state. However, I will say moving was the best thing ever because I met some great people and more importantly realized how much Ohio State means to me.
I've played football, and dreamt football for as long as I can remember. However, out of my own stupidity I quit in the middle of my junior year. I tried to blame my coach (Although he could've handled my situation better) to make me feel my quitting was justified, but it was all my fault. I was out of shape, lazy, and thought because I was a starter the year before I was promised things my junior year. Now I worked hard that off-season but too much of my weight gained (30 pounds) was fat. Cuz of that I lost my speed, lost my already so so conditioning, and lost my playing days.
I've learned from this though, and I wish I could still play football somehow some way but that'll never happen. College football outside of D-1A doesn't make sense to me because the college athlete pays too much (time/money) while they should be study'n. Which is why since I quit football I've stepped up my love for OSU even more now. I seriously live and breathe Ohio State, and as such will be attending school there starting in fall of 08'!
My all time favorite buckeye is hands down A.J Hawk. The man was so humble, never did anything but good for our school, and his play was remarkable. He also represents the buckeye play that most sticks out in my mind as well
I somehow managed to get tickets to the Ohio State Texas game in the shoe' back in 05 and A.J Hawk was able to corral the play I remember most. His interception where he crossed field and was rumbling near the goal line did something to me that I can't explain. When he caught it and started running with it I LOST IT. I started screaming at the top of my lungs so badly that I actually partially blacked out because I was light headed! hahahah That game was so hyped and once AJ caught that ball, and I heard the crowd go nuts with me I have never been/seen such a crazier invironment as I did on that play. AWESOME and if anyone can find that clip do me a favor... Turn up the volume (to whatever is tolerable, the louder the better) and listen to the crowd. First as he catches the ball but the crowd gets even louder when AJ gets hit and goes down. I still get chill bumps! GO BUCKS

Well I havent been on here in awhile. I was born and raised outside of Middletown. Just moved to the panhandle of Florida in May. I'm already sick of watching old Florida State games on the Sunshine network. I have been a fan of Ohio State as since I first started watching football when I was 6. I have been married since last september. Which caused me to miss the NC state game because I was in St. Thomas on my honeymoon. My favorite buckeyes of past and present are Keith Byers, Chris Spielman, Chris Carter, Eddie George, Antoine Winfield, Orlando Pace, Mike Doss, A.J. Hawk, and everybody else who has worn scarlet and gray. I should be posting more frequently now I have found this site again. It helps with being homesick.

Hey everyone, my name's Greg and I'm right here in central ohio (Pickerington actually) and have grown up in this area my entire life. I attended Ohio University before getting married and have 2 children who are already learning that being a Buckeye fan in my house can be very rewarding. I work in New Albany and my co workers think I'm nuts. Every Friday in August we stop everything when I get in and listen to Cie Grant's rendition of Carmen Ohio. Every Saturday that I'm not at the game (I don't go to many because they take years off the end of my life), I start the chili early and fire up the grill for brats and get the schedule ready to catch as much football as physically possible from noon until midnight (or later if Hawaii is playing at home). During OSU games, though, I am statuesque within 5 feet of the television screen.
I only post when I feel that I have something to add, which isn't often. I do enjoy reading everyone elses posts and visit here frequently looking for information and insight that others may have. Thanks to all of you who have put forth your time to make Buckeyeplanet the success is has become thus far!

I hear ya. Buckeye home games start at 6:00 a.m. Hawaii time before DST kicks in (and then it's 7:00 a.m. start times). I watch games from 6:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., and take an hour break in prep for the neighbors' coming over for Hawaii home games...I literally have 15 straight hours of live football!

Well I have put this off for a few months now. i am an avid "lurker" here. I rarely post much b/c I have very little to add. I don't have much insight since I haven't played football since 95 when i graduated from Grove City. I have been a lifelong Ohio State fan from way back. Although I did not attend college here, rather I chose to go to Miami,............. of Ohio that is. I again live here in Grove City, and work in the Easton area. Not married and no kids for me either. I do attend a number of games both home and away. Last year, Whisky's bad loss, and home to Bowling Green. As for this year I will be going to Northwestern, and to Marshall. I also would like to thank all of you for your long hours of research and reading various reports to bring ohio state news here. Go Bucks!!!!

Porter, I heard that the Wisconsin fans were a little ornery (to put it politely) at that game last year. Moreso than usual. Did you experience any of that?

Sound off
As my moniker implies, I'm originally from Newark, Ohio, just east of Columbus. I graduated from Newark High in 1981, back in the days of the old COL. There was never any question where I would go to college....not after having Jim Stillwagon sign my program when I was 5 years old....not after Archie spoke to my 8th grade class...not after Dr. Gerry Ersham recounted Woody stories when I was on a high school sailing trip on Lake Erie. I was and always will be a Buckeye. I spent 4 years in the W. 10th Ave "Castle", a legend in it's own right, and then did medical school at OSU, graduating in 1989. I am a physician in Cincinnati, with 2 young children, both of whom claim their favorite clothes are scarlet and gray. My favorite time of the year is any Buckeye home game.
My Buckeye heroes are Woody, J. Stillwagon, Archie, C. Spielman, Eddie George, and Michael Jenkins...all exuding Buckeye pride and class.
Love the site, C and M....always 2 of my favorite early Bucknuts posters.
Go Bucks!

Zinc, the fans up there were bad before the game and were just unbearable after. One major problem is that they like to play night games up there and the kids drink all day and are just out of control. The only place that I have ever been to that can compare is Death Valley where LSU plays, went there in 97 or 98 forget when, both years run together, to see Florida play with my frien that went there(Florida). Those maniacs throw stuff at ya. But Camp Randall was bad and I knew that b/c I had been once before to see Whisky play Minny for the axe in the year opposite the one I went to LSU. The other real bad place to go is Huntington, WV, for a Marshall game. The Hurd fans are just about the most rude people I have ever met, but That was the first year that Miami Univ. played them there. But I can say that Whisky fans up there live up to all of their asshole glory for sure.
