The BCS after 5 years
EDIT: Updated for this years BCS games.


Just thought I'd check out the BCS history after 5 years. A few interesting things stick out. The BigTen and Big12 seem to be the best conferences (most games by the most teams), but the Pac10 is very close behind with 7 games by 7 different teams. That kinda surprised me. The other thing is how big a joke the ACC (and to a lesser degree BigLeast) is. I mean 5 games played, 4 of those by 1 team? Things are going to change in a BIG way for both those conferences.

What I can not believe is how in five years the Bucks have not gone to the Rose... when you think about that is true, guess I figured we would have been there... we were there in '97 though...

I think this year has shown the BCS to be what it truly is. An attempt to placate the major conferences by guaranteeing them a spot in a high-profile, high-payout bowl game and avoiding a playoff system. With USC being left out of the national championship picture the BCS is hoping to hell that OU beats LSU and michigan beats USC so there is no debate as to whether there is a split NC.

Do the polls matter at this point now that the BCS has set the match ups?

I thought the Sears Trophy and the MNC go to the winner of the Sugar Bowl no matter what.

The only poll that is tied into the BCS is the Coachs poll, the AP can vote how they see fit. The agreement with the BCS is that the Coachs have to vote the winner of the BCS game the champ. I have heard that when the ballots arive for the last vote that #1 is already filled in for them and they just vote for 2-25.

Also, it is the "Circut City" trophy now, not Sears.
