A-Russ loss last year was a blow we never recovered from. We can make do this year with moving people around.
Thank goodness for Chekwi and Wash playing great! Enabling Jenks to move to safety. And getting Amos back will help, too!

Although it may look like a cheap shot, Ohio State's receivers do the same thing. It is actually taught and encouraged to do at Ohio State, and is called a cut block. (Watch Hartline on run plays, he is pretty good at it.)

While we might do it, I dont think that we cut block people from behind. That's called a clip.

anyway, the difference is small and purely semantic, but cut blocks are from the front and chop blocks are from the side and back. of course, that's neither here nor there. a cut/chop block to the side or back is a move that warrants a flag. russell wasn't engaged with another player and he wasn't at the line of scrimmage; however, it was the type of block that is dirty and needs to be discouraged.

I commented on that block the minute it happened. It was directly from the rear. Check Buckguys youtube above. No question about it.

Last report I saw said he was kept out as a precaution and ankle is not serious. Any update?

I haven't heard the severity of his injury yet. I was hoping to pop on here and see if anyone had heard anything difinitive yet. I'm an athletic trainer so maybe I can shed some light on the situation. I'm hearing a lot of people say that "it's only an ankle sprain, should be back in a couple of weeks". An ankle sprain can be something you can come back from in 2 days, or it can be something that lingers for months. When you are dealing with sprains you are talking about ligament attachments from bone to bone. Sometimes they can be so dibilitating fractures will heal faster. There are differing degrees of sprains ranging from a stretch of the ligament to a full fledge tear. I know he is coming back from an ACL from last year but I think I've heard Tress mention that he was battling this ankle problem since the spring. Hopefully it's on the non-severe side of things. We need his play-making abilities in the seconday. They do seem to play with a lttle extra swagger when he is in when they are in their regular 4-3 set. GO BUCKS

I always thought the standard of care was to practice and observe swelling. Swelling means you wait, no swelling you play?
