"Yes it's gay they are not selling the ooc games to the students in advance"
The only thing that's gay is being a whiny little baby. They will sell you tickets, you just have to wait a little while. Boo-hoo. There are lots of OSU fans out there, who are not students, who have a very difficult time getting tickets. Cry me a friggin river. And yes, I am a student myself. Grow up.

When I went to OSU, my first year (1987) I bought a student ticket for $40. That was for 5 games.
|
I paid $14 and got an athletic card that they punched for each of the home football games. With that same card you could go to BBall games for 25 cents each and get into all other events free.
To put this in the context of athletic department expenses, I would estimate that the football coach at the time (a Mr. Hayes) would have been making roughly 3-4% of what our current coach is making. (This was 10 years before Woody retired with a salary of $43,000).

tOSU Ticket Prices (merged)
What did tickets end up going for closer to game time? I bought a couple of tickets early to get the haggling over with and I am hoping that as it got closer to game time, ticket prices went down. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I heard a couple saying that $150 was the cheapest they could find over by the stadium just before kickoff so they did not buy.
By the way, what did you pay?

My brother was wasted and sold two tickets right before kickoff for $100 each... they were in the endzone, in C-Deck about as high as C-deck goes... basically the worst seats in the house for $100 each...

That sucks, I guess that I will have to hand pick the games that I'll attend anymore. I guess if you are not a donor to OSU they don't want you in the stadium anymore.

that's a pretty drastic price increase from last year... No student tickets and the $10 price hike definately caused a drastic increase in scalper's prices....
Damn Holbrook and Gieger.

I'm not sure what prices scalpers are getting for tickets has to do with anything you just said. I'm an alumnus who donates to the school every year. I get one game offered to me - 2 tickets at face value. The school graduates about 5,000 people every quarter, so with that many alums - and a top tier program - what the hell do you expect? Walk-up tickets at $20 a pop?
There are a lot more alums than seats in the stadium, and the team is 26-2 its last 28 games, so scalpers are raising their prices. Apparently, someone is buying them - if they weren't the price would come down.
Ripping the university over the above phenomena may make you feel better, but it makes no sense. The only thing they're guilty of in this regard is graduating too many students, having too small a stadium and winning too many games.
