None taken, DH. BTW, that wasn't my post about rugby keys to success. However, there is some overlap between the two sports and what is necessary to win at the highest levels. Both require a meshing of intellect and athletic ability and both require mental and physical "courage" to use Bill Conley's term. This team will get there under Tressel. I would be less confident of that if Cooper was still the coach. They certainly have the athletic skill to be successful. They need repetition and to develop the game-sense that is hard to simulate. They also need to attack and play aggressively while they are developing. Getting there fast and with bad intentions can cover many sins. Letting the game come to them will not work at this point, obviously.

I think winning the Ten outright will definitely hold some weight with the pollsters, however I honestly think even if we were to get our [censored] together and win out there will be at least one other team with only one loss. Too many of the top teams do not play each other this year. Add that on to the less than impressive way we seem to win all of our games and I think it is an extreme longshot for us to sneak in. The fact that the other conferences have championship games that give the top teams another chance to lose is our advantage, but I don't know if it will be enough for us this year.

I'm not sure what you're gettting at here Rugby- we're talking about FOOTBALL... not little girls games like Hopscotch, Jacks, and Rugby...

Funny. I once saw a Doberman try to intimidate a Rhodesian Ridgeback (the kind that are/were bred to hunt lions). The Ridgeback just yawned.
I've played both. At comparable levels both are hard, but it takes more to play without the equipment. I would put D1 football up against the Southern Hemisphere Super 12 competition; similar levels of athletic size and ability, similar speed, but with no pads, no substitutions, and playing offense and defense.
