Bring em back!
This is what we need: Bring back the OSU greats to coach at tOSU. Those that want to anyway. Tressel should hire guys like Spielman to run the defense and Pete Johnson to coach the running backs. They need and Oline greats to coach the lineman.Don't know who would be the best choice here, one of you better versed in OSU lore could fill that in. Maybe Cris Carter could coach the WR's and some other guys for specialty. The thing this team lacks right now is heart. We just don't seem to go after other teams the way we used to. The 2002 team showed so much heart maybe I've become a little spoiled. In fact, I think I am spoiled because I've had the good fortune to see people play the game the way its meant to be played, with Fire and Energy and relentless will to overcome on every snap of the football. I grew up idolizing the Spielmans and Byers. Those were men who just never quit-EVER! We have some of those players on our team now. Not everyone is lacking in spirit. I do believe some of the coaching staff is lacking in their ability to bring out the best in our young players. I think some of the OSU greats who played that way would be a great inspiration to the younger players today. When our backs were up against it this weekend I didn't see any coaches on the sidelines "getting after" the players the way they used to. Have we become so complacent? Do we think that just by showing up we will win regardless? We need that fire and intensity to come through when we're down collectively. I know JT has a calming effect on players when the chips are down and that works too. I for one, would just like to see some of the players play "[censored]ed off" from time to time! Teams like NW should not be able to dictate to the Buckeyes no matter where the game or the conditions.
There I finally got to vent. Thanks.

Great players do not always equate to good coaches...I do love the idea of having those guys involved though

Maybe there can be some kind of compromise...Pete Johnson could buy the team a couple of blocking sleds.

Jeesh, we lose one game and we need to fire Tress, fire the assistants, replace the QB and the entire defensive backfield.
I've read these "solutions" on various threads here and at other sites. I would be the last person to say we don't have problems with our offense, namely the running game, and we saw a lackluster performance from the players and the coaches this week, but I think a lot of folks are overreacting to one game.

I am one to agree that many are going overboard on the loss, but our running game has been [censored] since Clarett left. Our OL cannot dominate anyone, and that's unacceptable. The only reason why Ross rolled up yardage against Indiana last year (our only truly dominant rushing game) was because Indiana was running a weird-ass 2-5 scheme. Ross had 100+ yards in the first quarter, but once Indiana went away from that scheme, it was almost back to normal.
