Finally....I've been waiting for this one. I'd love to see some of those idiots talk about those kids in front of the parents....I can't imagine reading a forum where my child was being shredded by "fans"

Not only is your analysis lame, but your math skills are severely challenged. Not to mention your ability to read a calendar.

The last I checked, the standard calendar used in the Western world proscribes 12 months in a year. This implies that a student who starts practice with the Buckeyes in August of 2002 will have compiled 25 full months in the program through September of 2004. My guess is that if you divide 25 months by 12 months per year you will arrive at a figure that is a bit short of the whole number 3.

Further, you have obviously not played football. Otherwise you would understand the difference between playing in a game versus practice.

Examine the 2004 OSU media guide. They breakdown the expirience for all of the Buckeye opponents based upon STARTING not PRACTICING time. There is no data collection resource that tracks expirienced practice players. The Big Ten and the NCAA have not determined that it is important to keep records of practice time for the purpose of determining expirience. Not to mention Varsity letters.

If you desire any additional insight, dig into the rosters of our opponents and discover the number of the returning starters who are also seniors. If you think that the senior factor doesn't matter with starters then...well, I have no hope for you.

If you have the time to actually research your opinions before you sit down at the keyboard to practice a little bomb throwing, you will discover that the premise of your post is dead wrong.

You could have taken a less moronic position by stating that "Well, yes they are a young team, but that is no excuse." Then you could argue your misguided opinion on the merits, slim as they may be.

But it galls me to no end the amount of unresearched drivel that flows from the mouths (and keyboards) on the site.

Please come back with something intelligent. It would be appreciated.

Your analysis of the incoming talent level of Buck recruits- how did you say it?- that they couldn't start for the leading high schools in CA? Hmmm.

Let me guess- the 14 losers who were drafted off of the Buck's squad from last year were all molded into NFL calibre players by....what? Good nutrition? Lack of sunshine? Four years of mediocre academics?

The IQ level of this board is dropping like a rock.

Shortly after my ban over there, I invited him over here a couple different times as I wished to continue interacting with him on some level. To the best of my knowledge, he has never registered over here. Can't say why, but still would love to be able to read his perspective now and again. Being the parent of a player doesn't mean he's always right, but it does mean he's got a ton of experience and perspective most of the rest of us don't have. I've always found Vern to be a cogent poster, and would certainly consider him a welcome presence here. But I won't be pushing the issue any more myself, despite about 7 months passing since my most recent invite.

Regardless, terrific response to the knuckleheads.

I agree! Extremely intelligent, close to the action, firm grasp of reality and well spoken...you can't ask for more from a poster. I'm not sure if he would be willing to post over here as well, but I'm sure he will find that he doesn't have to sift through as much crap over here. Not to mention that he would be an AWESOME addition to the site.

Same as well. Invited him to write some blogs here as well. No response. Maybe his feelings could be changing? VL seems a bit miffed by the posts at Bucknuts. He'd be a great addition here.

I still frequent BN sometimes, and post on occassion. But the folks over there are severly lacking in many mental aspects.

Going on the thread in question. I thinks some folks are unwillingto accept that this is a rebuilding year for osu. Sure there are some changes that need to be made. But we need to look at the following:

new defensive coordinator, new rb coach, new wr coach, new lb coach.

1st year starters at OG (2), and RT. 1st year starter at WR. 1st year starter at QB. That is just on offense.

Defesnively its a bit different because a lot of those guys saw ample pt when rotating in.

Also, look at how many RS seniors, true seniors, and RS juniors are starters or in the 2 deep. Very few. The recruiting classes of 2000 and 2001 really don't help the cause either.

If you are reloading, you can plug in rs and true juniors and seniors that have seen ample PT in the 2 deep and in mop up duty.

Bottom line: There are just far too many contributing factors all working against osu at the current time. The true fans will weather the storm and stick around. The bandwagoners will be the ones calling for every coach to be fired and every starter to be pulled.

VL is the only poster I like to read over there that does not frequent this board. He gives great insight from a parent's perspective and has well thought out posts. If I had a child playing for the Bucks I would probably stay as far from those forums as possible. Idiots rule at Bucknuts.

I have no idea what he is reacting too, although it sounds like he had a strong opinion. I will say this though, when you go to Ohio State, or your kid goes to Ohio State, don't you expect these type of comments. The offensive line has not performed well, I certainly don't think it is a lack of effort, you could make a judgement that it is lack of skill, but I still come back to coaching. If we had the tallent on the offensive line that the NFL seemed to think we did, and yet couldn't get them to mold as a single unit, then coaching has got to be questioned.
