Dayton Daily News
4/19 Boro's Ballard in demand By Ron Jackson Dayton Daily News College football scouts and recruiters are expected to flock to Springboro High School, starting next month. And for good reason. Jake Ballard figures to be a prize in the class of 2006. The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Ballard has received football scholarship offers from Michigan State, Miami, Bowling Green, Boston College, Indiana, Cincinnati, Duke and Louisville. He also has made visits to Ohio State and Notre Dame. He will attend the Buckeyes' spring game Saturday. <!-- inset --> "It all picks up in intensity in May when the coaches start making visits and the combines (Nike and U.S. Army All-American Football Classic) are scheduled," Ballard said. "It's been exciting meeting coaches like Jim Tressell (OSU), John L. Smith (MSU) and Bobby Petrino (Louisville). I'm going to keep an open mind and get a good feel for the college program where I want to play for." Versatility is Ballard's main asset. He is being recruited as a defensive end, tight end and two-way tackle, depending on the program's particular needs. "Jake is humble, carries a 3.5 GPA, and can play four positions with his big frame," said Springboro head coach Rodney Roberts. "There is a lot to like about Jake Ballard." Ballard is expected to make an oral commitment before next season, but it won't be binding until he signs in Febuary 2006. <!-- // END CONTENT // --> |

Has there ever been any mention of his twin brother, Josh? He is a pretty solid LB. Good size and the few games that I have seen he is in on almost every play.

Jake REALLY REALLY wants to play for OSU... he said he is a little angry that they haven't offered him yet.
As for his brother Josh, he also "wouldn't mind" playing for OSU, but is yet to get an offer. |

5/18/05 By Chris Nida...an in-depth look at the recruiting process for Jake Ballard. Jake has taken a pretty easy-going approach to recruiting thus far. Jake has offers from such schools as Vanderbilt, Maryland, West Virginia, Louisville, Michigan State and Indiana. Jake has received visitors recently such as Coach Bollman and Coach Peterson. He is open to playing on either side of the ball. He plans to visit much of the Big 10 this summer. He is the Buckeyes to lose if we offer... |

They feel when OSU offers he will become a Buckeye. He has the potential to play several positions at the next level. <!-- / message --><!-- sig --> |

Scouts, Inc. has Ballard listed as the national #2 TE prospect in the class of 2006. Is this a legit rating? I've only heard talk of him on OL or DL.
