Imagine being a Big Ten Guard or Center this year: On first and second down you go up against Larimore, or Denlinger, or Abdallah, or Worthington; then on third down, after having been beat on for two downs, Robert Rose comes in and puts a speed rush on you.
How many times in a game does that have to happen before Rose gets a step on you and you catch up just in time to help your QB off the turf? |

I agree OH , about Rose and the D line. I'm ready too.

Since all kickoffs this year will come from the 30 yard line instead of the 35 I am wondering if we can conitnue to get the ball into the end zone on a consistant basis. This will certainly result in more runbacks and put more pressure on special teams. Knowing JT's penchant for them this could be a huge advantage for us.

I just hope that they leave Gholston's hand in the dirt and not drop him into coverage very often.

If we go back to more of a zone blitzing scheme, then I don't have a problem with him dropping into coverage. If the scheme is like the NC, then I agree with you. I would rather have him rushing the passer

just watched the NC game against Miami, and it was indeed sweet watching Will Smith sack Dorsey, run down McGahee FROM BEHIND, tip passes down field, nail tight ends on short passes. The dude was quick and all over the place and nobody minded that he weighed 260 instead of 280. I mean, he didn't look very big for a DL but he was all OVER the freakin place.
One thing I wish would happen in camp is this: decide on a quarterback. It scares me to hear Tressel talking about playing all 3 guys 3 or 4 weeks into the season. I would hope he learned his lesson with that. Pick a guy on Aug. 31st and go with him until he proves you wrong, be that Boeckman, Schoenhoft or Henton. But maybe I can't blame the coach, maybe I should realize that none of the three QBs is rising above the rest? |

our first 8 games are very winnable so i would prefer for jt to use the time to get boeckman, show and henton as much game time as possible. henton imo is behind the curve and not ready yet. but he might walk out on that field and be a man among boys. its also important to make known commodities out of as many of these guys as possible because you never know who the injurty bug might bite.
as oh8ch said, i think jt learned from the zwick/smith ordeal. how would things have been different if zick and smith split the first 2 to 3 games? would zwick have retained the starter position? |
