Around the Oval
Two Receiver spots shown rationale:
Around the Oval :: An Ohio State Buckeyes Blog
Quote:
Only two receiver spots listed
Jim Tressel effectively answered the, "How will the offense change this season?" question when he listed both a fullback and a tight end on the depth chart. Last season, this was not at all the case as neither the fullback nor the tight end played large roles in the spread offense, and thus, were not always a part of the depth chart, leaving a spot for Brian Robiskie alongside Teddy and Gonzo. Now, the only two listed starters at the receiving spots are the aforementioned Robo and redshirt sophomore Brian Hartline. This could mean a few things. For one, simply the recognition of two "power" positions more than likely means that the offense will resemble that of the 2002 squad's rather than last season's. it could also potentially mean that the coaches do not feel comfortable listing a true freshman such as Dane Sanzenbacher or Taurian Washington as a starter in each player's respective collegiate debut. However, Tressel is the kind of guy that sticks to his guns, and if he thinks that Sanzenbacher is good enough to play in three receiver sets, then he would have no problem listing it, which leads me to believe that it is the former of the two choices

A couple of interesting things on this roster:
- The freshman WR stepping up. I hope Small gets healthy
- Alex Barrow ahead of Robert Rose at DE
- Lawrence Wilson listed as starting DT
- Doug Worthington Starting DE... I thought Wilson was an end and Doug was a tackle
- Good job by Austin to earn the back-up at MLB
- Looks Like Moeller is back at LB, Gibson being used as a rush end?
- Freshman back up CB. Good job Eugene and Chimdi
- Coleman getting the nod at Saftey... I like this, he seemed to produce when he was in there...
- Great having Russell back there and healthy
- Robiskie returning punts... I think Small would be a little more electric, but I hope I am wrong. Maybe he is the starter because of the injury of Small. Anyone suprised not to see Saine there?
- KR -Wells and Russell... Yikes, I do not want to see Russell on ST and risk injury. Again, anyone not surprised to see Saine?
