It was not just you losing, it was the hype for two teams that was heard at such a loud volume for such a long time, only to have them both waxed in their bowls.

Had Michigan not been punked, it would not have been as bad for y'all. Synergy, is how I see it.

The subsequent losses by Big-10 elite in major games (I do not include the fine win by Michigan over UF as one of the major games, as we were not that highly ranked, but it was a great Big-10 win), you in Baton Rouge and out west to USC, and now Penn State being done by halftime in the Rose (let alone the Zooker being crushed last year too), and it now is what it is.

My long point is that it is not just that game that did it, but the weird deal where the two teams who were touted as the best two teams in college football, the "Best of all time" stuff about the Buckeyes and the Heisman winner with a narrow number 2 in M*chigan that was the reason for the fall.

An unusual level of expectation was demolished, followed by several years of similar debacles by Big-10 elite in BCS games.

That is not your fault guys, as much as Michigan and Illinois and Penn State AND you.

Sucks. Kick some shorthorn ass. If, however, your secondary gets torched by McCoy, you have a good many years until you'll get over the bad press. I hated to see this, as your guys do not need the added pressure of being the last line of defense in saving the Big-10 rep.

Kicking the Ole Ball Coaches ass is not > that the ass whooping by USC. So it is up to you guys.

I can agree with all that. We start taking care of business on the field and a lot of the B10 is weak stuff stops.

The funny thing is, if we take care of business on the field most of us won't give a tinkers damn what anyone has to say about the B10.

We have simply got to get back to winning these big OOC games or all the talk is pretty much deserved.

I keep this thread updated simply for the irony of the facts not quite matching up with the hot air from Bristol, Conn.

I can think of only one good thing that came out of the scenario that played out in Dec. '06/Jan '07: It will be highly unlikely that the BCSNCG will be played between two teams from the same conference because of what happened. That could have happened this year with the Big12 but '06 had to be in the back of a lot of people's minds even though it was never mentioned.

If Florida were to have a similar outing to Bama, do you think the response would be similar?

Fortunately for you, I can't envision that happening, especially with the horrendous defense they play in that conference. But I couldn't help but think of this thread when watching the game.

I don't recall much campaigning for scum around here. We all thought (think) Urban Cryer was (is) classless for campaigning... and llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllloyd just as much so.
Most of the fervor I recall was around Sir Sweater declining to pick his own opponent. Which is another interesting topic right along the same vilification lines Jax brought up.

If we beat Texas and Florida blows out OU I will be very curious to see how hard the national media goes after the B12. To this point OU has gotten a pass for being worse in big games than OSU has ever thought about on top of getting more hype then we did in 2006.

I can see your argument from the SEC perspective but there is no way to make it jive up against the double standard the B12 gets.

Even if Florida were to get waxed by Oklahoma (which won't happen, but if), the SEC has enough solid wins, not the mention the last two national champions, to not suffer the same tarnish to their rep as did the Big Ten. The SEC has enough Green Stamps in their books to weather a few bowl ass-kickings while keeping their rep intact.

True, the counterpoint regarding the b12 does make more sense.

Many felt OSU would have a suspect NC in 07 if Boston College had remained undefeated and they were bested by OSU in the title match. I've often wondered where the achievement lies in beating teams so utterly disrespected? Certainly they are titles and cannot be taken away, but the backbone of the SEC (since Dec 31, 07) uprising comes from wins over Ohio State, Ohio State, Hawaii & Notre Dame. The next tier SEC teams struggled with (07 Wisconsin W, Penn State L, (08 Mizzou L, Florida L. That next tier has done better this year, but the hyperbole was in full swing before this season.

I would disagree somewhat. I heard plenty of talk about the SEC CG being the real NC game. If OU somehow just came out of nowhere and blasted UF it would be similar but, like Mili said, the '06 and '07 NC's obviously give the SEC a lot of slack.

I will say that a few SEC fans are even willing to slightly admit the SEC overall was pretty down this year(as compared to the ultra superhuman level of immortal speed gods they have been in the past of course). This year they look like they are mere mortals (except Tebow, he is beyond a doubt a god walking among us). At least thats the group pulse I get from the few SEC types I still talk football with.

Big Ten (88)

Ohio State much like the actual football games wins this battle with Michigan as they edge them out 14 to 13 in players represented. The Wolverines may have the bigger names though with two stud offensive lineman and LaMarr Woodley who has emerged as one of the more fearsome pass rashers in the NFL. The Colts apparently like getting very good players from Iowa.

Unlike last year, Eli Manning has some solid company at the top of the SEC, like his brother Peyton. Face Stomper Albert Haynesworth just might have eclipsed Eli as the 2nd best player representing the SEC as well. Atlanta in the heart of SEC company not surprisingly leads the way with the numbert of roster spots while Georgia dominates all in representation even the mighty Gators. Also, poor Vandy has no one to cheer for.
