Boeckman is progressing, but still has some work to do to get better... Henton should be the backup and NOT the starter - Todd's experience and maturity overrides anything Henton can bring to the table NOW (but that may change if Henton makes the leaps and bounds improvement from 07 to 08). I agree on #3 as well..but God forbid, if Beanie gets hurt...does Saine or Mo Wells start? The one thing I will say is that while our offense was vanilla against YSU and Akron, our OL should have been more dominant in both games. They looked uninspired in those contests, especially the Akron game. |

well, i don't think you are going to see much disagreement with those sentiments on this board... the scout board is another story. those people are insane, and i don't mean that in a good way. a large majority are seriously out of touch with reality.

Agree. He makes good decisions, checks off well, and throws good passes for most of the game. It's that part of the game that isn't "most" that holds him back from actually being a solid starting QB.

Big disagree. There isn't an oline in the world that will be able to block 9 men and open a hole for Beanie, and that's why people think it sucks. But when it's a more reasonable 4 or 5 rushing, these guys haven't let very much through. Boeckman didn't get sacked at all against Washington, and very rarely the rest of the year so far. And they open holes big enough for Beanie to drive a truck through. They're also starting to look a lot better, and they're able to pick up the blitzes off the edges and the corners, and they're able to block 8 in the box. |

I agree. You can see him improve from game to game. And you can see his confidence grow right along with it. He stays in the pocket and takes hits and his teammates see that too. He manages the game pretty well. He does make some errors mentally but that is to be expected with a new guy. All In all I think he will work out just fine. 2. Henton should be the backup. I agree for the same reasons you do. But I also think he is just pressing a little too much, maybe from know Henton is right on his heels or is past him. A rock and a Hard place? 3. Saine should be the starter. No. If he continues to develop Beanie may have a shot at the Heisman next year. We haven't started to see just how good Beanie will be. Saine will have to wait. 4. Our WR's can't stretch the field. This year our field stretching abilities lie in the number we have rather the speed of one guy. While we have not seen ours in action against a top flight D. I think the best job so far was by Hartline this last weekend. But if we can get some of the WR's back along with Small and the rest we will have blazing speed overall. 5. Our Oline is not very good. Agree that they are not great. there are still too many mistakes being made. Especially against the teams we have played. I think they are just starting to Gel and develop into a good Oline. The potential and talent is there though to be a great line. I can see that thet are improving nicely too. |

Agree - he is turning into one. He's not there yet.

Agree for the most part. He still tends to baby the ball to his receivers, but if you notice, his best throws are the ones he plants and fires on. I'm absolutely sure the coaches are working with him on that aspect.

Surprisingly cogent thread for a Falcons fan.
Can't disagree with any of it. |

I agree with all but I'll let the coaches decide PT for the QB's, they know much more about the situation than any of us. Overall I'm very pleased with the progression so far, I expect it to continue...

I only agree with #1, about Boeckman being solid.
I disagree with #2 (Henton being #2 QB) - like Jax, I'm willing to trust the coaches on that one. |

I gotta chime in on Schoenhoft. There is no doubt that from what we have seen Henton looks better - not because he has done anything great but because Rob has been pretty bad. I have said that as much as anyone.
But the key phrase here is "what we have seen". These guys have hundreds of reps in practice and we have seen only a handful in game action. We all have an opinion but very little basis for it. Certainly not enough to generate the very strong opinion that the sum of our posts in this and other threads creates. As long as Boeckman stays healthy it is a non-issue. I would prefer to wait for it to sort itself out. |

Don't really know the answer yet because its to early on questions 1-5
. I need a few more games to see if theirs any developement. Todd has his moments he looks great and times he looks lost. Brandon Saine needs more touches!! Antonio Henton must not practice very well because he looked awesome in the series he had against YSU. |

There it is. I posted earlier that Robby got 3 plays in Wash over 2 series and then Henton came and I don't remember if he even threw a pass or not. So I agree with Oh8ch. Let the coaches sort it out.
Several people in here have intimated that Henton is very close to Todd in the QB race. Since I don't know I bow to their superior knowledge and sources. BUT as long as Todd continues to improve from week to week I see no need to change. As far as who is #2 I don't really care since I trust the staff to entertain me. |
