To me, hes similar to Nate Salley. Both are tall and slender, yet are strong and cut, helping them to lay the wood. Each also has a nose for the ball and very versatile.

ESPN - Top-flight '09 safeties a versatile bunch - Football Recruiting

The Big Ten Conference picked up verbals from the final two safeties ranked in the top 10. It's only fitting they will go to rival schools -- Michigan and Ohio State. Isaiah Bell (Youngstown, Ohio/Liberty) will venture from Youngstown to play for the Wolverines, and Jamie Wood (Pickerington, Ohio/Central) will stay in central Ohio to play for the Buckeyes.

At 209 pounds, Bell is a huge safety, but he moves like a much lighter athlete. He is a very fluid defensive player who is especially impressive in zone coverage. Wood, meanwhile, is an intensely competitive back who is best-suited for the strong safety position. He displays great timing on special teams when coming off the edge to block punts and field goals.

Ohio Capital Conference: Talented Tigers see fruits of their effort
Expectations won't mar Pickerington Central's big plans

The Tigers finished 11-1 in 2007. They went 13-2 and lost in the 2006 Division II championship game to Piqua and Mr. Football, Brandon Saine.
Wood said the players are focused only on the opener against Upper Arlington.
"Our goals? To take it one game at a time," he said. "Upper Arlington, that's a playoff team and it will be like a playoff game. We think we know how to play, but we'll have to earn everything. We know we're one of the smallest Division I teams. That's why we have to play hard and physical."

Longtime Ohio State fan Jamie Wood, like most others of his ilk, was supremely disappointed to watch his favorite team fall to Penn State last Saturday night. Wood resolved to do something about it.
He didn't mean he was going to write to The Dispatch bemoaning the offense or calling for changes in the coaching staff. Unlike the vast majority of OSU fans, Wood -- a defensive back for Pickerington Central and a member of the Buckeyes' 2009 recruiting class -- will have the chance to do something about it on the field starting next season.
"It definitely affects me when the Buckeyes lose, because I've grown up as an Ohio State fan and I have that love for the Buckeyes," Wood said. "It makes you want to go out there next year and try to make a difference. You picture yourself maybe making the play some other player didn't make. You see yourself in somebody else's shoes.
