I thought as much so I don't know a 2005 signee and a 2009 recruit constitutes a pipeline.

BTW, I wasn't surprised at all that the 2007 signee Steve Matas from Mentor didn't enroll.

Zook does a good job recruiting but I am sure that many rosters in the Big Ten would have many Ohioans as well.

none...they wanted two of them but they would have never made it thru admissions ( gamble and cumberland)

Agreed. If that's the case, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Indiana have pipelines as well (and you could throw Notre dame in there too). Michigan and Minnesota in particular prosper or suffer based on their recruiting in Ohio.

Illinois has been stealing some great underrated, under-the-radar talent from Ohio lately. One that wasn't listed there was Justin Staples from Lakewood, who got a good look from OSU. It's an overused phrase these days, but "if only we had the schollies", we'd be taking more of these guys. Then again, if some of these guys had worked harder on their academics...

Edit: Cumberland had a conditional offer that he didn't meet the conditions for (academics). Wouldn't have cleared OSU's admissions.

we are screwed. I'm worried all of the top instate prospects for 2009 will be stolen by the Zooker or UC

There is also a linebacker who played for Bedford, OH Saint Peter Chanel I believe his name is Steele. Zook is really cutting into the UC, Minny, Whisky, MSU talent pool. Alot of the kids he gets from Ohio end up in the 2 deep.

Your right I did forget about Justin Staples and I didn't mean that we were taking any recruits from Ohio away from OSU. Of course we aren't but we are building a pretty stable base of Ohio recruits. I think we are more than likely cutting into the guys that Wisconsin, Iowa, and MSU are getting. Before Zook we didn't have that many Ohio guys.

Couple that with Zook's recent sucess in Chicago and Washington DC (and the handful of recruits he has plucked out of Florida) and you can see how he is starting to amass some real talent in Champaign.

OSU has offered. Says he is still committed to Illinois but will be visiting OSU sometime soon.

I assume that we have a pretty good shot w/ this kid considering that it was his "dream" to be recruited by OSU. I hope we can get back in the race for this kid. He looks real good.
