he is similar to Rob Rose, though I think Rose was even bigger at this stage. Fellows could end up being a 290 lb. DE that can kick inside to DT on passing downs or he could be a 275 big DE like Michael Strahan or Julius Peppers.

Rose is more compact that Fellows IMO.

Fellows isn't "lanky", but he's taller and has longer limbs than Rose does IMO.

I think he's also a little more fluid than Rose(he struggles when he has to change directions IMO. Straight line he's good).

I think he'll be a prototypical Strong side DE.

yeah, that's kinda what I meant by him being bigger at the same stage. He has more around the neck and shoulders and his limbs aren't as long or lanky as Fellows'. Fellows has a good frame for a long DE, but if he does go up to over 280 lbs. he could be used inside on passing downs. He is that type of player - the kind who is good against the run and physical at the point of attack.

Fellows has long limbs and shows good body control on the field. He has good field vision and usually takes efficient pursuit angles. His biggest challenge at the next level will be keeping his quickness while adding the ideal amount of healthy weight. Whether that is 250 or 290 - time will tell, but I think he has the tools to eventually lock down the strong side DE on a very deep and promising future D-line.

This is a matchup of size versus speed. Walters is the nation's No. 1 all-around tackle, and you would think his 40-pound advantage against the smaller Fellows would make this a no-brainer. Fellow's speed and quickness, however, could very well neutralize the size and strength differential. The challenge for Fellows will be in the run game: Can he keep from being mauled by the tough, physical offensive tackle? The challenge for Walters will come in the passing game: Can he set back quick enough and get his hands on the speedy defensive end without getting beat off the edge?

ASSETS: Great upper body structure, good height, and long arms.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: His legs really need to get bigger and stronger for him to battle offensive tackles and tight ends at the point of attack on running plays.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE IN PRACTICE: Looked really quick coming off the edge on more than one occasion.
CONCLUSION: Right now I have to say he is a weakside defensive end because his legs are similar in size to some of the thinner receivers. I can see a redshirt in store for him at Ohio State. If his lower body gets even remotely close to his upper body he could be a terror in the Big Ten.

If this writer is only commenting on the size of his legs, then he's probably right. However, if the writer is commenting on his strength, it wouldn't be consistent with past evaluations. Other times Rivals talks about Fellows' outstanding strength and run-stopping ability.

Swollen knee kept Fellows sidelined

Garfield Heights senior Melvin Fellows did not play in Sunday's Under Armour All-American football game in Orlando, Fla..
"My knee swelled up the first day of practice and the trainers there said it wouldn't be a good idea if I played on it," said Fellows, a 6-5, 235-pound defensive end and Ohio State recruit.
Fellows had surgery on his left knee after the season because of cartilage damage and believes he rushed his return.
"It was getting close to high school ball and I didn't rehab [the knee] as well as I should have," Fellows said. "It would swell up on me off and on during the season, but nothing serious."
Fellows wasn't disappointed he wasn't able to play in the game.
"It was nice to be invited to play and I made some new friends, but I have my entire future ahead of me," he said. "I'm coming back home, rehab it the right way and get ready to play at Ohio State."
