Where are the party areas/bars in Ann Arbor?
Heading up for the first time and there are still hotels about 15 miles out for half the price. Curious where the bars are and any good areas in and around ann arbor for Friday and Saturday night....
thanks in advance!

I'd suggest stopping in Toledo and not spending any more money than you have to in that [censored]hole of a state. But hey, that's just me.

If you like microbrews, the Arbor Brewing Co. is great. The last time I was there they had at least 3 beers on tap that were over 10% alcohol. That place knocked me on my ass! Ashley's has over 60 beer on tap. Scorekeepers is your typical sports bar.
Or, you can take Darkhorse's advice.

I agree with staying in Ohio if possible. However, be warned that traffic in and out of Ann Whorbor on the day of THE GAWE is horrible. Went to the 2003 gawe with thuwp, buckeyefool, and ebert's fat lip and it took us 2 hours to drive the last 5 wiles to a parking lot that was a good 1-1.5 wiles frow the stadiuw.

Well I may have to pay an extra hundred to be close to the stadium, but other than heading in for the game, we are going to taxi it around. We'll probably hoof it the last couple of miles I expect.

Just found a hotel 3 miles away for 119! nice.
It seems if you keep checking often enough - more rooms "magically" pop up.
Wish me no death friday and saturday nights!!
I think I'll check out Eastern Michigan's "sights" on Saturday maybe.

I never went to Ashley's myself, but heard nothing but good things. The Arbor Brewing Co. is the real deal, a solid option, but I have no idea what it gets like on game day. Scorekeepers (or Skeeps) is a decent if unimpressive sports bar. Closer to campus The Brown Jug and Good Time Charley's are both serviceable if not memorable. If your looking for somewhere more out of the way Casey's on Depot Street is good for what it is. If you want to stop somewhere in Ypsilanti, I don't know what to tell you. I'd be worried about drinking the water there, let alone the booze. Still I've been told the Tap Room is good. I can't give any of these a ringing endorsement as I'm not much of a bar scene guy, but I figured you might what to hear from someone who lived in Ann Arbor.
Oh, and hotel accommodations are always sketchy up there. Anytime I or someone I knew tried to land a room they acted like everyplace in town was booked up only to find the hotel half empty when we would show up. HMMMMM.
