I don't think a playoff system would take anything away from the weird and fun season this year. As much as we love to give USC or Georgia [censored] about a bad loss, things happen. I think a 16-team would allow that fun to continue. Think about it. Missouri lost twice to Oklahoma yet killed Arkansas while Oklahomo got incested by West Virginny. Some team just line up better against others...no one knows who'd win in a playoff matchup, and that's the fun of college football. Whoever was able to win their 4 games in a 16-team playoff would have a clear claim to being the best overall team in college football.

Dont get me wrong, im all about the a playoff for all of the reasons you just mentioned. Im just saying that, although faulty, the current system does have its own upside. How thrilling is it knowing that on any given week if you dont play with perfection your team could be out of it with one loss. You cant deny it doesnt produce a muuuch more exciting regular season. With that said, would the amount of damage the reg season would take be offset by the added bonus of a playoff? Who knows? But maybe if we try and make every sport fit the prototypical mold (ie playoffs) we might start to miss the old, unique, system. Or not.

Yes but if the media keeps trying to give NC out to teams *cough* USC *cough* then doesn't that pretty much get rid of what happens in the regular season too?
