ray - I think in a winner take all championship game getting up early plays heavy on either teams' character and psyche, as might a struggle with a one score difference down to the wire. So, I doubt that there will be too much looking in the rearview mirror, not by Ohio State, nor by LSU - who may not want the alternative, another nail biter.

To be honest, I have gotten to love the nailbiters. I feel like an idiot against Arkansas in the second overtime when it was 4rth and 10, i was almost rooting for arkansas to score to extend the game. That was how much i was loving that game and not wanting it to end, but, alas, they scored and we lost but oh well, we still playing ya'll in nat champ game. LSU has played so many close games this year, and i have enjoyed them so much, I would almost be dissapointed if this is a blow out, even by us. I love Miles's agressive play, and besides stupid penalties, these Tigers have been fun to watch. And, besides Charles Alexander, a starting DT, I am really going to enjoy seeing them at full strength in the title game. It has been a long time since that has been the case.

Couldn't have worked out better
As a Buckeye fan, I'm thrilled we're playing the SEC champion. If we win, any SEC fan with a shred of sense will stop using last year's Florida game as the definitive statement on the Bucks and the Big Ten in general. If we lose, well, we've got to suck it up and take whatever shots SEC fans (and the rest of the country) throw our way. But either way, we now control our own destiny in that regard. It couldn't have worked out better.

I hope you guys don't get too many obnoxious LSU fans over here, this really is a great site and I'd hate to see it filled w/ a bunch of smack talk. Besides, LSU fans should feel very fortunate just to have the opportunity to play in this game (and "very fortunate" is a HUGE understatement).
to everyone here, I look forward to talking to you all over the next few weeks.

And likewise! The month long wait goes by a lot faster with good discussion and debate.

Ray, I think that Ohio State has been motivated this year to repair the damage it did to its own image and that of the Big Ten. LSU is a very good team with some excellent athletes, coached by Michigan men. I think its safe to say that Ohio State will be motivated to prepare.

This may have been discussed, but i haven't ran across it in the little reading i have done.

Well thought out points. It'll be interesting to see which way the pschological ball bounces with Ohio State. OTOH, those same scenarios could backfire on LSU. A couple of quick touchdowns, and they might think the route is on and go to sleep. Or may just come into the game complacent feeling it's but a mere stepping stone to their coronation.
The whole debacle in Glendale certainly will add an interesting element to this game.

You will miss them. We had a ton in 2002. That was the craziest time to be a Buckeye fan.
