I thought at one point in the game that with Saine & Herron hurt this team really misses Carlos Hyde right now.

Then Martin took the ball and basically told me to sit down and STFU.

I hope he earned himself a few more carries this year.

The only way to get everyone carries next year is to go to Georgia Tech's triple option

Seriously we are a bit embarrassed with talent right now.

Loved watching Jermil running the ball today. His performance certainly warranted a few meaningful carries for him in the coming weeks.

NOT Keith Byers - in any way, shape or form.

John Brockington.

Disagree, mainly due to the visual aspect of seeing a big back with a number in the 40s running for Ohio State.

I wasn't the only one with that reaction.

Now he almost certainly doesn't have Byars' explosiveness or pass-catching ability, but it definitely jogged a memory or three....

Brockington or maybe Otis! Not elusive, but always moving forward and finishing! I like the "finishing" part! Punishing people.
We missed a presence like this! I think he can be a big help. The inside power will change the way we're defended.

(Byers was a dancing bear kind of guy, not as much a "punisher")

Brockington wore #42, IIRC.
If you saw Brockington run and then saw Byars run, you would hardly mistake the two for each other. Jermil looked alot more like Brockington, but without the super-high knee action.

I'm sure there were alot of (younger than dirt) guys who thought of Byars. I'd bet alot of (older than dirt) guys who have seen both players live thought of Brockington - or at least they should have.

Martin finished with 75 on 7 carries. But it was those piles moving forward that impressed and had an effect.

How old do we have to be?

Brockington (FULLback)was MY first OSU runner. Watched his career with tOSU, capping off with the Rose Bowl - OSU vs USC: John Brockington vs O.J. Simpson! A fullback. Back when Woody's main man was the fullback (running off-center, not off-tackle, like the wimpy tailbacks do it nowadays.) He went on to have a decent career with Green Bay. Was the first rusher in the NFL to have over 1,000 in his first three seasons.

Hearing Jermil Martin's name called, what with being as old as I am, and with my feeble old man's hearing, plus watching how bruising he is, I am reminded more of Jamar Martin.

Jamar was one of Cooper's blocking backs. At only like 250 pounds, he hit defensive linemen as if he were 360. Surprised people with his power and knocked them back. Bruising, like Jermil.

Why not?

Just put in a basic Triple option play, and let Pryor read it.

I'm only half kidding, my High school team runs the option and I love it.

I'll add to this and say I loved seeing Jermil get the touches, he looked phenomenal today against Minny-haha... hopefully he'll keep his work ethic up and continue to get the touches, because as of right now in the season I don't see any reason for him not to get the touches.

Has me wondering, however, if it was worth burning the 'shirt.

It seems like every season there is a freshman who sees the field really early and makes a big splash, then fades until the next season. I would rather keep that previous season!

See: Keith Wells, Taurian Washington, Ross Homan, etc.
