Unfortunately I fear that you cannot depend on that working. It is just as likely that a skilled OC would see Amos in and play the run, while with O'Neal in they go by air.
Agree with what you say about an opportunity lost - perhaps the last of their college career (as in it takes a lot to get to the championship game).
