I understand about the huge fanbases dispersed creating a somewhat national appeal, but that is still osu and michigan alumni, not native's of those particular areas. And that is still a very minute part of the population in a lot of areas.

This time last year I was at a Wal-Mart here in Salem, OR. I ran into a kid fully decked out in tOSU gear. I asked him what city his family was from. His grandmother walked up and told me that he was from Oregon and just loved everything about tOSU football. He was 12.
I'm Ohio-born; he wasn't.

Your right, I should have said very minute part of populace in general, but that is same for every school. Most are still going to be transplanted though; or, at least, i think they would.

And as for the JD, with your engineering undergrad degree, you (along with those with undergrad degrees in pure science) are the only people eligible to take the Patent Bar and become federal patent attorneys. That's a high demand field that makes major bucks (mininum $100K).
But the best part, is that you will actually get to experience LSU as an LSU student. As much as I love college football, and as much as I love LSU, it will never be the same to me as those days back when I was an actual LSU student.
And as for your Dad, I hope he's doing better nowadays.

I actually thought about it when i was in college, took most of the classes to get minor in business but like two in case i wanted to get mba, but never did. I actually looked into it after i graduated but haven't thought about that in a few years...never thought about trying to do it at LSU...hmm
If i did go back it'd probably be for something else though, engineering bores the crap out of me. Not saying anything derogatory about the profession, just bores me.
This has got to be almost on topic--talking bout rival Louisiana schools lol
edit---hmm, apparently you can't do that quote thing by hand, or i just did not do it right lol

We have quite a few memorable games in our series and we won't ever overtake their in-state rival because Bama will always be there.
Before you decide to bash the SEC, try reading about the Earthquake game, the Barn-burning game, the "Upright game", and the last few games.

Four simple points for you -
First vBulletin never forgets, nowhere in what I wrote was there a single instance of bashing the SEC.
Second, the issue I presented was whether both competing teams mutually view a game between the two schools as a rivalry. For TSUN vs. tOSU that is true.
For tOSU vs. Penn State that is not true - and, I contend that from the viewpoint of Auburn fans and alumni that they do not view LSU-Auburn as a rivalry game, which status they certainly accord to the Iron Bowl, as do 'Bama fans and alumni.
Thirdly, having a must win game in the SEC West does not make that game a rivalry game. Important yes, essential to a good season, yes, rivalry - see point two in my short list. (Which essential and important status BTW also accords to tOSU vs. Wisconsin or tOSU vs. Penn State - but they are not ever rivalry games.
Fourth, duration of 'Bama's problems (slide away from top tier) is not relevant to a discussion of the importance of a rivalry. Army-Navy for instance is viewed as a huge game by both service academies. Neither team has been relevant to top tier football discussions for decades.
Finally, because you somehow took what I wrote to mean that I was "bashing the SEC" I present the original post that got your knickers in a twist. Explain how you can reasonably take the statement I made about LSU-Auburn compared to Auburn-Alabama as any kind of knock on the SEC.

Even though Michigan is in yearly games against MSU and ND, they too will say that OSU is The Game - period.
So, I have to ask, is all this talk of LSU - Auburn a tad one sided? Akin, if you will to, the way that Penn State claims their yearly tilt against the Buckeyes as a rivalry - though for LSU-Auburn clearly of much longer duration.

Care to show me anywhere in that statement where I said LSU-Auburn was bigger than OSU-UM? I'll be waiting....And actually I said that the Iron Bowl was up there with OSU-UM so I don't know where you get this idea that I don't respect that rivalry. You're trying to pull things that aren't there from what I am saying.

Another thing, do you know a lot of Auburn fans? Do you know the general consensus of Auburn "nation"? Unless you live in Auburn, Alabama or have actually played them recently I don't know how you would know that. I talked to a lot of Auburn tailgating at this past years game and there is definitely a mutual hate between us. Granted, they reserve the majority of their hate for Bama but like I said before Bama is irrelevant now and hasn't beaten Auburn in what ...7 years?
And about the SEC Bashing, maybe that wasn't best phrase to use but it certainly wasn't meant to be directed towards you.
If Auburn wasn't a rivalry, then I guess Coach Tubby didn't have any reason to light up cigars after the game in 1999 in our home stadium. Or to stomp on the eye of the tiger...or to start a fight with our band .
