At least it isn't a "invent-a-rivalry" like the Golden Boot is

I agree, the boot thing is stupid as [censored], I do not get that... Let me see THE GAME
Cross state rival, records do not matter because each team shows up and plays hard, hard hitting, national title implications, long and storied history, does that sum it up?

You're not taking last years game into consideration which was one of the most viewed college football games of all time, you're not taking the history behind it or how much it means to people who were born in those two states. If I am wrong here, I am sorry, I am not trying to put words in your mouth, but most of the time there's so much on the line for that game, bragging rights, the big10 championship and in the past 6 years a right to go to the national championship game has been there three times.
What gets more intense for a rivalry than that? You say Michigan isn't a real rival, but remember, before Tressel we went 2-10-1 with John Cooper, trust me this game means a lot.

Well there we agree....
Ohio State Michigan is easily the biggest in-conference rivalry. Despite your opinions of the conference, the Big Ten has been one of the top football conferences for nearly 100 years now and will continue to be into the future.
Seeing as this game has more often than not determined who went to the biggest and most historically significant bowl game in the pre-BCS era (and even in the post-BCS era, just not as automatically), it is considerably more prestigious than you seem to think.

Over-simplification, but closer than you were.....
If you really want to get into it, it's more than just a football rivalry considering the two states nearly went to war over Toledo and the lake port there......

I was describing the Ole Miss/LSU rivalry... We have been playing them since 1894 with many national title implications over the years. I can defiantly understand the OSU/UM game, it is a great rivalry... I am going to go look at my history about Toledo, interesting...
