No, because Ohio State and Michigan were #1 and #2 respectively, and the winner played in the MNC game. |

Each year has an impact on the Big-10 conference championship and twice (3 if you count this year, though it happened a week later) meant a trip to the National Championship game. Yeah, definately overrated.
