Although a shutout would be legendary...

So did '05. I believe we led the country in sacks that year or at least were right up there.
An attacking D is also vulnerable to big plays and those are even more likely to occur if you have an inexperienced D which we had in '04, '06, and '07. Expect to see a much more aggressive D this year. Hell, it was aggressive last year. But it doesn't really matter how aggressive you are if your D-line isn't pushing the O-line back and your LB's sent on blitzes are getting picked up by RB's and TE's. Our personnel is much better this year though and that's the difference.

"Our personel is much better this year" ? Please explain how? I do see more experience. Is that what you mean?

Well, generally, experience makes personel much better.

Against Illinois, we spread our defense and put three guys on the d-line, then they proceeded to run right through the gaping holes that were there all night. I think I remember the Illinois TE doing some good, as well.. but I'm not certain on that.
I guess what I'm saying is that we've always had the talent to take risks, and Heacock hasn't really done that in the last two huge games we've played.
Of course, it won't matter what defense we play if we turn the ball over.

You rang? And Malcolm Jenkins still got burned deep for the TD. What's the point then?
