Yea, I can't honestly deny that one. I have a few michigan fans that I know, and ironically they are assholes...(sarcasm included with the word ironically)..I liked hearing about how great appy state really was and how they could have beat some very top teams...No offense to appy state, but i'd bank a house that OSU could handle them..

I read a lot of that, but most of it seemed to come the week after that game. Appy State started getting less and less credit as tsun proved that it would be a spectacular year for anyone that hated them

Hey! I take offense to that, I am an idiot and even I know that USC has a ton of talent on that team...

"There are a lot of second and third stringers at SC that would start at other schools." Yes. So what? None of those "other schools" is Ohio State. You even go on to retract your remark by admitting the same is true at other top tier schools... so... what's the point then?
|
The reality is that both schools have players on the bench who could start at other schools, the flip side of that is, they wouldn't get the exposure that they could get waiting for a chance at a major program. SC has some great talent, but it would be silly to think that schools like Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, and yes, Ohio State, aren't just as loaded.

You probably know a lot more about SC than we do here. Tell us who we maybe don't know about has a shot of making some noise and why. We already know SC has a lot of talent on the roster.
|
See, I also posted three parts like I am arguing with you, but I am agreeing with every points, proving, once again, that I am an idiot and I know that USC is loaded with talent. Now, if you don't mind, the rest of us idiots would like an apology for your assumption.

The list of schools who can compete with OSU is very short. The staff at Appy St. definitely has something going, you don't win three consecutive NCAA championships on any level by accident. While their win over UM did provide a good chuckle, I think it did contribute to the perception that the Big Ten is not as strong as before. Appy St. could definitely compete with a lot of Div. 1A teams. BTW, Appy St. opens @ LSU.

I never said they couldn't compete with a D1 school. I will say if they spend much time playing top ten teams they will be hushed, and sent back down a division though.I guess we'll see how they do against the tigers to figure it all out..They had a few GREAT athletes last year, but a few is a lot harder to win with against a team loaded with it,and on top of that depth...
Edit: I think a lot of teams can compete with Ohio State. Talent wise no,but I don't expect them to win every game by 28 points. I'm not sure at what point you just give up on the word "compete" exactly. There's a whole lot of games over the past few years (2002 comes to mind first, but I did say few),that the game was too close for comfort against teams that had no business being that close. Talent wise there is an elite class in division one and OSU is definitely one of the top revolving door two or three. I agree totally with you about the contribution and effect that game (appy/michigan) had on the big ten status overall. Especially in the national spotlight with media and fans.

App State won't be sneaking up on anybody this time... LSU should man-handle them. But it will be interesting to watch none the less.

Especially that none the, 'Les' part.
I have no idea what talent & skill sets AppState brings to the table, but anytime even a defending champ and national powerhouse team like LSU, brings in a completely unproven QB, predicting events becomes a lot more difficult.
