At 6'3'' 215 any chance he grows into a LB.? If yes can you imagine another speedy big linebacker to with the crop we already have. Even if this kid stays at safety this class is monstrous with defensive prospects!!!!!!!

Reading a story like this makes it easier to understand how some serious talent ends up at lower-tier D1 programs. Hype is half the equation anymore with other offers, internet, etc. but Zach's story is remarkable. Interesting how the talent was there but the interest was just late. Every now and then a guy like this gets missed but not this time...I'm really glad we landed Zach.

After watching the 11 minute video of him, I gotta say he plays with what my Football mentor used to call controlled fury. He doesn't seem to slow down, likes a good contact, but doesn't take it over the edge. With him being a good size/skill set it'll be nice to have him.

I also seem to remember another 3* out of the GWOC central who had quite an illustrious career at tOSU... I think his name might have rhymed with Rock

Sometimes you can see a really talented player play for what is considered a weak football program and he never gets noticed by the Big D1 programs because scouts rarely see any of their games. That is most likely what happened with Zach.
I can't imagine any D1 program that would have over looked him had any of their scouts seen him play this season.

An exciting 12 days in the history of Beavercreek High School football is scheduled for a mighty crescendo today. "Jim Tressel is coming to our school," football coach Scott Clodfelter said.
The Ohio State coach is going there to take a peek at Beavercreek, a Dayton suburb. But mainly he's going to eyeball recruit Zach Domicone, a safety who just 13 days ago wasn't forecast to be one of 18 players who have committed to the Buckeyes' 2008 recruiting class.
"You hear all the talk about the craziness of college football recruiting, but you really don't know about it until you live it," Clodfelter said.

BEAVERCREEK ? With time escaping before halftime, the Beavercreek High School football team chased a 14-7 Carroll lead. Then-sophomore Zach Domicone took the snap and ran left, working to get out of bounds and stop the clock.
Unfortunately, it rained the day before that 2005 season-opener. The Carroll track was flooded, so the marching band crept near the field to prepare for halftime. Domicone saw the band and slapped on the breaks.


His right knee popped, and Domicone's sophomore season ended with a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The player hailed for his speed since elementary school and one of the most promising sophomores in Beavercreek history went from winning the starting quarterback job to a broken ligament.
"I went from an ultimate high to an ultimate low," Domicone said.
This month, though, that feeling has reversed. After a slow start to his recruitment because of the torn ACL, Domicone has become one of the most interesting prospect stories in Jim Tressel's seven years of coaching Ohio State. His tale underlines the uncertainty of the recruiting process and the power of an Ohio State scholarship to change a high school football program.

Zach Domicone went through a recruiting process that changed, literally, overnight.
"I went to bed one Thursday thinking I was going to Nebraska," said Domicone, the Beavercreek High School quarterback and defensive back. "I woke up on Friday, went to school, thought I was going to Oklahoma first. Then Ohio State called and offered me at 3:30 and that was it."


That summarizes one of the most unlikely paths to the Buckeyes in recent seasons. The story will be complete today when Domicone, along with thousands of high school football players across the country, signs his national letter of intent.
Just a few weeks ago, he didn't know which school would be on that letter. His best scholarship offers by the middle of December were from Ohio University, Connecticut and Akron. Then, Nebraska and new coach Bo Pelini called, which set off a chain reaction that led to a scholarship offer from Oklahoma, then from Ohio State.
