That was the nice thing for Terrelle in the first half....he had time to throw because of the respect USC had to show him because of his wheels. They just tee'd off on Todd.

Terrelle also made some nice reads and throws in the first half. Especially when he surveyed the field and hit Sanzenbacher for 11 or 12. He had all day to throw on that one....

A healthy Beanie will sure make a Freshman QB with wheels look even better.

Another year down the drain! I thought Boeckman would be better but I was wrong I also thought our O line was going to be better I was wrong. It is time for Todd to become a back up player as he should be!! And the coaches on both sides of the ball need to get it together A.S.A.P.!!

Senior Todd Boeckman began the season as starter, but his struggles against Southern California loosened his grip on the position.

Freshman Terrelle Pryor was expected to play a change-of-pace role this season, but his rapid progression has earned him increased playing time.



Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel has decided it's time to break glass in case of emergency. In this case, he's breaking the glass ceiling on quarterback Terrelle Pryor's playing time.
Coming into the season, fifth-year senior Todd Boeckman was the unquestioned starter, based on his command of the offense and his 11-2 record in 2007.
Pryor, the hotshot incoming freshman, would certainly play but in a change-of-pace relief role.
That all changed after last week's 35-3 drubbing at Southern California. Tressel was disappointed in Boeckman's mistakes, most notably an interception returned for a touchdown and taking a sack and fumbling the ball away.
Yesterday, Tressel threw the job wide open, saying Boeckman and Pryor would likely split the snaps 50-50 this Saturday for the 13th-ranked Buckeyes (2-1) against Troy University (2-0). He did not name a starter.

After reading about the teams reactions to Todd and TP(they all stood when he was on the field), and thinking about the role of leadership. I am revising my thoughts on a starting QB. The defense has plenty of leaders.
The offense has lacked leadership with Beanie out. The offense needs Pryor's leadership on the field. Teach the crap out of Pryor with more reps and field time. He will pick up the offense till Beanie can lend a hand with leadership. Get them both on the field and it should really be fun to watch! A rotation gives Pryor the time to see things and get coached up.
The team believes in Pryor. That is more important than experience. He has become a team leader by example.

Pryor earns increased practice opportunities

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State's Jim Tressel has stuck religiously with the core principles that have brought him success through his more than 30 years of coaching in college football.

But the current quarterback situation with the Buckeyes has put the Tressel doctrine under increased scrutiny.

The sticky predicament he finds himself in now involves senior Todd Boeckman and freshman Terrelle Pryor.

Who do you hand the car keys to, for an offense that has sputtered the last two weeks while running without the injured Chris 'Beanie' Wells at tailback.

The Buckeyes (2-1) will host Troy on Saturday and are coming off a humbling 35-3 loss to top-ranked Southern California that has spawned a spirited quarterback discussion, if not a budding controversy.

Tressel said yesterday, if the game took place that night, he would have expected Boeckman and Pryor to split the snaps 50-50. His quick addendum said the division of the workload this Saturday could be impacted by what takes place at practice the remainder of the week and by what transpires in the game against Troy.

Tressel always has preferred experience over exuberance. He likes to play guys he knows and trusts, and the more age rings on their college football trunk, the better.

And he likes his quarterbacks to be great decision-makers before they are great players, and in spite Boeckman's three turnovers at USC, Tressel said he still has confidence in Boeckman.

'What we have to work on is what we are doing in the game of football, that we need to do better,' Tressel said yesterday in a meeting with the media at the team's indoor practice facility. 'No one has changed any thinking about who they are.'
