This kid is a great prospect. He can play both ways but i believe his best position is OL. The reason, Athleticism, great feet, and hands. He is a hockey player. 6"4"and 285 lbs on the ice. Unbelievable. Get out of his way when he is on a 3 on 2 breakaway!!!!!!!

I haven't watched any film on the kid at all, but given his athletic ability and size would Quinn Pitcock be a fair comparison?

That's really tough to say. There are always players with similar measurables that don't even end up playing the same positions. Pitcock was really good as a pass rusher and coming out of HS, he had the 4.7 speed to go with 290 pounds of mass. Bellamy needs to get stronger and more powerful but he really uses his hands well and gets good leverage so some think that he'll eventually end up on the OL.

2008 in review: Bellamy got call he wanted - from the Buckeyes

Aurora -- Since the first day a college football program showed interest in him, Adam Bellamy had waited for one specific school to come calling.
In that time, more than 15 schools had called and offered the senior defensive tackle a scholarship.
Schools like Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Northwestern, Pittsburgh and Boston College all did their best get to Bellamy to come to their campus.
Bellamy had planned to spend his summer visiting all of those schools to see what they could offer.
His summer plans changed June 9, 2008, when he received the one phone call he had been waiting for.
The call came to Aurora head football coach Bob Mihalik from Ohio State offensive coordinator Jim Bollman. He told Mihalik to have Bellamy call head coach Jim Tressel as soon as possible.
Mihalik rounded up Bellamy, who was helping with the Aurora youth football camp. Bellamy almost didn't believe his coach, thinking he was playing a joke.
But Bellamy called Tressel back and the latter offered a scholarship to play for the Buckeyes.
"It doesn't get much better than OSU," said Bellamy, who told Tressel he was 99 percent positive he would go to OSU, but needed a day to talk with his parents.

"He's never let it go to his head. He's not worked one less minute; he continues to work harder," said Mihalik.
"He knows now more than ever, he need to be a role model for the kids. I'm proud of how he's acted during this whole thing."

Aurora High School is planning a news conference today (Feb. 4) at 11:30 a.m. when senior Adam Bellamy signs a national letter of intent to play football at Ohio State University.

According to coach Bob Mihalik, Bellamy is the first AHS player to receive a full football scholarship since 1983 when Byron Spruell went to Notre Dame.

Bellamy received more than 20 scholarship offers, he has earned several first team honors for football, was defensive player of the year for 2008 in the Chagrin Valley Conference and will play in the Ohio-Pennsylvania Big 33 game this summer.

Aurora lineman Adam Bellamy signed his letter of intent with Ohio State today using a pen commemorating Aurora's 2008 state title.

AURORA -- With eight members of his family watching, Aurora's Adam Bellamy turned what had been an improbable dream as recently as nine months ago into reality today.

All it took were two strokes of a ballpoint pen.

Bellamy, who helped Aurora win the Division III state football championship with his blocking and tackling, signed a Big Ten and national letter of intent to attend Ohio State while being flanked by his father, Keith, and his mother, Sue.

He used a pen commemorating Aurora's state title while wearing a state championship ring that arrived at school on Tuesday. He wore an OSU baseball-style cap, and an OSU tie was draped over an Aurora helmet in front of him.

When Bellamy, a 6-4, 285-pound two-way lineman, made an oral commitment to OSU in June, he expressed his surprise that he was good enough to become an OSU player. Today, he said he was still a little shocked, but reality had arrived.

"It's a little more of a reality, but I am still figuring out how lucky I am and how things have worked out," he said. "I am feeling very fortunate. When I first moved to Aurora I got into Aurora football. I don't know if things would have worked out they way they did if we hadn't moved here."

Adam was selected this year for the 1st Team All CVC Conference Team and was Defensive Player of the Year for the CVC. He was also selected for the 1st Team for the All Northeast Ohio Inland District for Offense, 1st Team All-Ohio for Ofense, and 1st Team Plain Dealer 7-County Best of the Best Team for Defense. Bellamy was picked to play in the Ohio vs. Pennsylvania Big 33 game this summer and has received over 20 scholarship offers.

The senior, who has maintained a 3.6 GPA at AHS, is also a member of the AHS Varsity hockey team.

I watched the State Championship game that Bellamy's team won and while he opposition will obviously improve, I saw that he possesses every talent an elite Dlineman needs. He has great feet and good hands, he pursued very well and never gave up on a play. He showed the same things on the offensive side as he finished his blocks and looked for another opponent to level.

It will probably take a redshirt year and some adjustment, but I think at the very least he'll turn into a solid two-deep contributor, and I expect much more. He appears to be another guy who will be able to use his quicks to beat inside O-linemen and his combination of size and quicks to give OT's fits.

Adam Bellamy is a force on both sides of the football.

In his senior year, he brought opposing quarterbacks down five times and recorded 90 tackles, leading the Aurora Greenmen to their first ever Ohio High School State Championship.

In the same season, he was a Division III first team All-Ohio selection as an offensive lineman.

With most of their defensive tackles nearing graduation, the Buckeyes have decided this 2009 recruit will have to make quarterbacks his enemy in the future.

"I just think he's a key part of the class because they needed - really, really needed - a defensive tackle," said Steve Helwagen, managing editor for Bucknuts Media Network. "I think it really helps them to get him - no question. He's a really good two-way lineman. If it doesn't work out for him on defense, he can always go and help out with the depth on offense. That's a good thing for him."

To go along with his versatility, Bellamy also has good size for an incoming freshman, measuring up at 6 feet 4 inches and 270 pounds.

But Kevin Noon, managing editor for ohiostate.rival.com, said Bellamy might not get playing time as a true freshman.

"Bellamy does probably need to work a little bit on his strength," Noon said. "His bench max was 265, which means he's going to need to do some more upper-body work. He's definitely a candidate for a redshirt."

Bellamy also plays ice hockey and baseball at Aurora, making it more difficult for him to spend more time in the weight room.

But if Bellamy's 3.5 high school grade point average and football accomplishments are any indication of his work ethic, then he should have no problem increasing his strength after one year of weight training at Ohio State.

Coaches at the Baron Cup last month marveled at 6-4, 285-pound Aurora defenseman Adam Bellamy, the biggest player in the tournament, and he showed outstanding stamina and skill.

His first shift in a loss to Solon lasted five minutes. The Boston-area native grew up playing hockey and didn't play football until after moving to Aurora while in junior high. He signed to play football at Ohio State last month.

Bellamy said he'll miss hockey.

"I believe hockey gave me the athleticism that definitely transferred over to football," he said. "I honestly believe if I didn't play hockey growing up I wouldn't be the kind of football player I am today, and it's better than running miles [to stay in shape]. It's a fun game."

Bellamy tops shotput field in district meet

Ohio State University-bound Adam Bellamy, a senior at Aurora High School, won the boys shotput at the Division I track and field meet at Ravenna on Tuesday and will advance to regional competition next week at Austintown Fitch.
Bellamy tossed the steel ball more than 52 feet, topping nearly 30 other competitors. Bellamy, who is headed to OSU to play football for the Buckeyes, is participating in track at AHS for the first time. In previous spring seasons, he played baseball.
Bellamy also was a member of the Greenmen's 2008 Division III state championship football team and played hockey during the winter.
Field event finals and preliminary running events in the Division I girls meet begin at 3:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Ravenna, with the Greenmen team scheduled to participate. Girls and boys running finals will take place Friday (May 22).
