my son would be raised well
so he wouldint even think of choosing scUM
but I wouldint make him go anywhere, I would let him choose where he wanted with full support (even if for some odd reason it was scUM)

We had an undersized OL...WAAY undersized. 5'11 250ish but he was a 4.0 kid with an Ivy League SAT score. One of those kids that was like a sponge...he ate up and applied every syllable of coaching given, was constantly learning the game's intricacies, came in on coach's meetings to watch film with the staff, and was a true leader. Got some attention from a few Ivy League schools but just didn't want to do that...he wanted to go to Georgia all of his life. The family was about as fanatical about the Dawgs as you could imagine...season tickets, house decorations, the car flags and stickers, just the works...
Then Tommy Bowden came to school to visit another of our kids who was committed to Clemson. The OL was an office worker that period and delivered some packages to the HC's office. After he left, Bowden asked about him and heard about his grades, work ethic, and work in the church (Preacher's kid) and Community. He immediately offered him a Walk-on spot...which was accepted after some deliberation.
That changed everything...the UGA stuff disappeared...the season tickets were sold...the trips to Athens changed to treks to Clemson. The first time the kid ran down the Hill after rubbing Howard's Rock, tears were flowing from the parents. He is on full scholarship...academically and if he sets foot on the field, that schollie is stripped immediately. Therefore, not only does he know he is redshirting, he knows he is unlikely to see the field unless they put him on an Athletic ride or he decides to pay his own way. Yet, every day, he is outworking guys twice his size...OL Coach Brad Scott loves him.
I asked his Dad one day about the Dawgs...we used to have some great talks about tOSU, SEC, UGA, etc. He replied that he barely follows them now...still keeps track if they win or lose, but he was 100% Clemson now. He brought out a great line..."There are things in this world that make ME happy...but nothing compares to seeing those things that make my SONS happy."

As a parent, I could not agree more with this quote.
I doubt either of my kids would choose my Rival in the first place. My Son was saying "Michigan Sucks" without any prompting at 2 years old.

He is only allowed to say "Michigan Sucks" one day out of the year, the remaining days he is permitted to say, "Michigan Stinks."
The whole raising kids right thing, ya know....

Yeah, well, some times you're not here and the rules are slightly different.
