Lance Smith, a junior running back with the Wisconsin football team, has been suspended from the team, head coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday.
"It has come to my attention that Lance has failed to meet certain requirements relating to the first-offender program he was placed in last fall," Bielema said.
Smith is suspended from competition and practice pending the availability of further information relating to this matter. During the suspension, Smith will remain on official squad lists and may continue to receive support services in the sports medicine facility, the academic support center and the weight training room.

I'm thinking he will miraculously be reinstated in time for the season.

They have enough RB depth to where it wouldn't be neccessary and Beliemia (IDK how to spell it) can use him as an example.

BB tried like hell to get Smith's suspension from road games lifted last year for our game regardless of what that scumbag did to warrant the suspension.
This is the same man who publicly stated he will not agree to a B10 road game at night. Of course he has no problem with hosting B10 games at night. An unusual dichotomy that for some reason has gotten zero play in the media.
He'll do whatever it takes to make sure he's got all of his weapons ready for our trip to Madison. Smith will have to kill some poor woman to be suspended.
I don't know how he keeps the media off his ass but BB is about the same as Alvarez in my book as far as class and integrity go.
Look at how their players acted last year. Those two idiots #11 and #8 talked more trash than any two guys in recent memory. The fans tried to stick around and heckle the singing of Carmen Ohio. BB went nuts on the sideline when Randle El got called for an illegal chop block on a play where he CLEARLY went right at VG's knee. The entire game in '07 was by far the chipiest/dirtiest game of the year. How they acted up there in '03 doesn't even need to be rehashed.
All in all its harder to have a lower opinion of a program from coach down to fans than I do of Wisky. They are near PSU level pure trash. All thats missing are the [censored] filled beer bottles being thrown at the band.

Agreed on all counts.
Add to that the fact that the Columbus media incorrectly blamed the Buckeyes for starting the "stomping on the logo" trend...
Add to all of that the fact that my grandfather died due to a heart attack induced by the loss in '84 and you might have some idea of what I want for the stinkin' Badgers.
They have a lot of guys back and will have a good team this year by their standards. It's been a very long time since we beat them down when they were good by their own standards.
But this year, we're good by OUR standards; and our standards are higher than theirs. Suck it, wiscy

I think the key in our favor is they will be breaking in a new QB and a new C on offense. That plus the fact they go from 3 cupcakes to bye week to scUM to us means this fits the bill for my "big step up in talent game" theory.
Still, obviously a hugely difficult game.
