No match for No. 1: Jeannette, Pa., quarterback Terrelle Pryor had a huge game this past weekend against Southmoreland. He rushed for 143 yards on three carries (all for touchdowns) and completed all seven of his passes for 171 yards and another score.

Pryor also stated that Ohio State, West Virginia and Florida stand out amongst his top six, ahead of Penn State, Texas and Tennessee. Pryor has an official visit set with Ohio State for the weekend of Nov. 2.

We're one-third of the way through the college football season, and the recruiting news is beginning to intensify.

Here are my takes on some of the latest happenings:

The nation's No. 1 player, Terrelle Pryor, has narrowed his list of schools to six with Ohio State, West Virginia, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas making the cut. Pryor said that the Buckeyes, Mountaineers and Gators have the edge right now. I think Penn State will be listed until the end, but it would be surprising to me if he chose the Nittany Lions based on the offense. I think Texas will be out soon because Pryor doesn't want to be compared to Vince Young. Those comparisons will never end in Austin. Tennessee is a long shot, although they could really use a dynamic quarterback and playmaker on offense. If I'm a betting man, I'm taking Ohio State all the way because of Pryor's relationship with fellow recruits and coach Jim Tressel. But where would he be the most fun to watch? I think West Virginia, where he and super frosh Noel Devine would make Big East defenses spin.

The West Virginia love fest ends tonight when they lose to South FLA and then South FLA loses to...whoever.

A great QB does not want to play in that gimmicky offense. Not that the offense isn't a lot of fun to watch, but it does nothing to prepare a QB for what they want their future to be.

Big East has defenses? I guess having the Brew Crew in front of you and Saine and Torrence behind you and our wide outs would not make any defense spin. Oh yeah and the Silver Bullets to help out on any mistakes. I am sorry and biased but been to WVU stadium and graduate of OSU there is no comparison. Not being mean just the facts. What I find interesting is how super frosh made the grades to get in to WVU but no other programs. Someday will know more.. just my opinion.

well, if he visited morgantown after graduating from osu, the trip alone is enough to ruin an individual's ability to form coherent sentences.

The only thing that worries me about this situation is his tendancy to run, A LOT. That would technically make him a better fit, statistically, for WVU. However, if he is interested in being a dual threat quarterback that is patient and can transfer the skills to the pros tOSU has a bit of a lead I'd think. Plus, we have a stellar basketball program. I feel confident about this kid, but you just never know with recruits these days. Their priorities are often different than we would assume or would like them to be.

After watching him play against Yough on ESPNU, I disagree. Most of his runs were designed and he was pretty decisive throwing the football. He will need some work on his accuracy and mechanics (as has been stated in here) but I think he makes pretty good reads and throws it when he needs to. Will this progress to the next level I don't know because it is a totally different game.

He also seems to run alot because its really easy for him in HS. 143 yards for 3TDs on 3 carries... thats not even alot of runs, just alot of yards. It's not Terrelle's fault no one can catch him.
