I'm convinced that Troy got his Heisman, not because he was a 'do everything player' but because he involved everyone around him. I agree with the posts above in that matter. Distributing the ball and making everyone around him better is what makes a great athlete.
Magic Johnson and Larry Bird each were magnificant athletes in their own right, but their greatest contribution was the fact that they made everyone else around them better. Troy did that. He could have run for 1,000 and passed for 2,000 and I can almost guarantee that OSU wouldn't have been as good a team as it was. Sure he scooted earlier than he had to, but maturity (and I suspect a talking to by Tress) said, 'stay at home and pick up your receiver progression.' And voila, he won the Heisman. And became a dynamite passer in his own right. Pryor (to tie in the thread) has the same attributes. As a youngster he seems to be running more than passing. He'll get better, and have the added weapon to 'take off' and get the critical first down yardage, etc etc etc. And he'll look great doing it in scarlet & gray, with little stick-ums on the helmet.........I just wish he'd commit NOW, end my suspense (regardless of what encouraging things I read), and have a couple of the big uncommitted names fall into line. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Was Vince's offense designed especially for him to run more frequently? In Pryor's case, I will definitely want him to develop as a passer in regards to reads and progressions, but I think sometimes, if he sees a running lane (as I did many times Troy's senior year) I'd like him to tuck it and run just because he is so dangerous with the ball in his hands. |

under young, texas ran the option read almost as their base offense... which basically the quarterback decides who has the opening each play on whether to run, hand off, or pass.. the bucks have with troy where more of a spread team.

In all the videos I have seen Pryor is going to need a couple of years in my opinion. Vince Young took a little while and he was the best type of mobile QB I have ever seen. VY did not want to play basketball too and that is the big difference. Pryor is an unbelievable talent and perhaps a redshirt first year would allow him to adjust going to College/ Football and playing Basketball. That is why I am not reading too much into Penn St and others giving him the best chance to start.

Pryor was charged with disorderly conduct.

He stood up for a friend and if the (lol) "rent-a-cop's" only real complaint was that Pryor was being "mouthy" then I have a hard time seeing any real issue let alone a reasonable case. should Pryor respect the law/authority? yes, but I'm sure most people, especially kids, can relate to cops (or mall cops/security) who are just looking to abuse their power mainly in the direction of kids. |

LMAO at ' rent - a - cop"

If what Pryor said was true, he was provoked and this charge should be thrown out. Either way, it's not a big deal. He could've handled the situation better with the "rent-a-cop", although I find it hard to have any kind of respect for a mall security guard on a power trip, if thats really what this guy is.

He's 18 years old. He's going to be mouthy.
The good thing? He was fighting to get back $21.00. At least we don't have to worry about Pryor taking money from anyone... Here's my take on it at my blog... It sounded like it was actual West Mifflin Police Officers. This is seriously going to get overplayed. I don't know anyone else that probably would have handled it differently. Seriously, if someone is messing with a girl friend or a girlfriend, I'd probably get into a physical altercation...he didn't. If I was 18, I'd probably try and get my $21 back too. Perhaps this just shows us leadership skills... ![]() |
